PW4 Terminal or SSH through experimental browser

I would like to use shellinabox, anyterm, ajaxterm, GoTTy, WeTTY, or any other browser based terminal application to access my linux machine from the kindle's experimental browser. Firmware version 5.13.4. GoTTY gives a websockets error on the handshake, and shellinabox shows an empty screen on the kindle, although there are no errors in the logs for the server. Kindle-TTY, an old github project, also shows an empty screen on the paperwhite 10th gen, but the title of the window is correct. I u...

TFB Review: The REIN Weaponlight from Cloud Defensive

It wasn’t long ago that if you wanted a light on your rifle, it was SureFire or nothing. With their company history stretching back nearly a half-century and key innovations in weapon-mounted flashlights beginning as early as the 1980s, it’s not hard to see why they were the kings of this particular hill for so […] Read More … The post TFB Review: The REIN Weaponlight from Cloud Defensive appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Looking for a e-reader that can be used remotely.

Hi, I have been trying to select an e-book reader that will enable me to read books remotely without the need for a Wi-Fi signal with the exception or initial setup and registration. And ideally something that can read as many formats as possible, along with being able to load pdf's of my own and epubs that haven't been bought through kindle or other library's. It's mostly technical books that can be used as reference aids during work, or a good novel when i'm stuck on a boat in the middle of...

Concealed Carry Corner: Low Round Count Training

Earlier this year, I wrote about the struggles of finding ammo and shooting at ranges when COVID was in full force. Fast forward almost a year and now ammo is even more of a struggle to find than it was last year. For a large number of shooters, the mindset has changed from training to […] Read More … The post Concealed Carry Corner: Low Round Count Training appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Alternative for CC

An idea. I know diddly about Android app development but.... there is a Go project call UNCaGED https://github.com/shermp/UNCaGED that implements a Go library for accessing the calibre Smart Driver API. I know Android apps are predominantly in Java but I believe they can be coded in Go. Has the time come for an open source project to build a new calibre companion? Law Enforcement Mum on Montana Gun Confiscation Story

Were the feds involved in a massive SWAT operation to confiscate guns in Montana from a falsely accused man? For reasons of their own, law enforcement isn’t talking. (Photo: ATF) U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Feds Confiscate Guns in Flathead Valley With 30 Vehicles, Three Tanks, and Helicopter, the Montana Daily Gazette reports.  “Heretofore ignored by the legacy press and mainstream media, in February, federal authorities invaded a neighborhood in the Flathead Valley with militarized police and...

Hand Picking a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) M1 Garand

Racks of Garands at the CMP store (Logan Metesh) USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Officially, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a national organization and a federally chartered 501c3 corporation that is dedicated to training and educating U.S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms and airguns through gun safety training, marksmanship training, and competitions. To most people, though, the CMP is the organization that sells surplus US military rifles by mail. In the past, they have offered ...

Can We Have Multiple Calibre Installs?

I just read a 2011 post saying he had more than 10 instances of Calibre installed on his machine. Can we do that? Can we install multiple instances of Calibre on one machine? On one drive? I have Calibre v 5 + and the DRM doesn't work so I'm going to have to use v 4.2 I guess. And Calibre on my Win10 doesn't seem to have an uninstall option. So I guess it'd be nice and easy for me to simply install the new version and leave the old one there if that's a satisfactory working arrangeme...

Hoopla Rentals

I am new to Hoopla and see now that it can't be downloaded to e-ink readers. I have read online that if you get the mobi downloaded you can manually transfer over, but I am not seeing a way to do that on the website, and did not find instructions on how to do this. Hoopla will let me open and read on the computer with a borrowed book, but I don't see a download option on the computer. Does anyone know a workaround? I have a fire, and can open it there, but do not enjoy reading on that device. I...

Metadata

Hi! I recently started maintaining project gutenberg ebooks (html formats). I realize that metadata of the books is extremely limited. Rarely i find proper authors, genres, or ISBN# I not using Calibre. I am hoping to get guidance on best way to complete the meta data. I am also open to consider epub format if that has better metadata quality and completeness. (For full disclosure: the end objective of the project i am part of is 'for profit' from the reading device.)

Error downloading the Economist

Tried the past few days (last week's edition and the current one) and they download as 0.4mb size (whereas past issues were average 5-7mb) and just shows the titles of the sections, nothing else. I'm running the latest version of Calibre on a Mac (latest version of OS and everything else). Happy to send a $10 tip to anyone who can help fix this one! :help:

Doubts cast over provenance of unearthed Sappho poems

Original account of discovery is retracted by editors of the scholarly book in which it was publishedWhen two hitherto unknown poems by Sappho were brought to light in early 2014, it was a literary sensation. The sixth-century BC poet is one of the most celebrated writers of Greco-Roman antiquity, a tender chronicler of the agonies of female desire, and a gay icon. But frustratingly few works by her survive, and those that do largely come from ancient papyrus fragments preserved in the dry sands...

Telegram is the same. I have tried a handful of other apps, just to confirm and the behaviors are the same. I feel like there may be libraries/modules for bt recording missing. Anyone find a wo...

U.S. Congressman Perlmutter Pursues Infliction Of Injustice

What you need to know about crop rotation in Southern California

Q: In Southern California (and other warm-winter areas), we have two growing seasons instead of one per year. Do we still have to rotate our vegetable crops on a four-year schedule, or can we reduce that to a two-year schedule because of the additional winter growing season? A: Many gardening guides will tell you that you should wait four years before planting the same crop (or same family) in the same garden space. For example, if you plant tomatoes in one section of your garden, you should pla...

Default Library to Use

Hi! Quick question... I'm running the content server as a Linux service. Is there a way to bypass the prompt, "Choose the calibre library to browse…" and present a pre-selected default library to users? I can do it with a long URL, but I'd like to make a library book list display as the site default landing page. Thanks!
