How does Kobo calculate percent of book read?

While reading a kepub fanfic (total 1660 pages), this happened: Pages 1185-1211 (Chapter 44): 70% read Page 1212 (Chapter 44) 71% read Page 1213 (Chapter 45): 72% read did 71% only last one page because of the chapter break?

Restoring and Making an SBS From a Remington 870 Shotgun

Last fall, I wrote about my experience with the ATF Form 1 process to make a Short Barreled Shotgun (SBS). Between buying my 1980’s vintage Remington 870 Magnum, getting the ATF approval, and actually making it into an SBS has been a long time, admittedly though, purely self induced. My goal has been to do […] Read More … The post Restoring and Making an SBS From a Remington 870 Shotgun appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

A Real Motive for Out-of-the-Ordinary Lighting

We’ve shown you Landscape Forms’ Motive Pendant. Now it’s time for the entire Motive Lighting family. Because this slick, sophisticated indoor-outdoor lighting solution comes in multiple incarnations. Motive is known for its versatile applications and neutral aesthetic. The Floor Lamp exemplifies this nicely with a streamlined form and broad reach for expansive illumination. Likewise, the path light blends nicely into surrounding architecture. The dark finish evokes classic bou...

Cloud Defensive OWL – The Brightest Weapon Light?

Cloud Defensive OWL (Optimized Weapon Light) U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- “Hoot, hoot,” y’all. I appreciate intelligent marketing, and Cloud Defensive naming the OWL was one of those smart moves. The Cloud Defensive OWL stands for Optimized Weapon Light, and it rules the roost as far as weapon lights go. Owls see at night and with an OWL, so will you. Cloud Defensive is one of two major companies that are pushing weapon light technology forward. Cloud Defensive made a light that stands out in bot...

New Kobo, ePub vs Kepub

Hi there, I’m delighted with my new Kobo Líbra, particularly the appearance of the fonts and page layout that make it appear so much more like the page in a book than my kindle does. So, having read around in here over the past few days prior to its arrival, I knew I was probably going to prefer the page appearance in EPUB, being a stickler for kerning and ligatures and the tiny details that contribute to give this reader its gorgeous rendering. Sure enough, after trying both formats, I greatl...

[Question: Kobo Clara HD] How to access borrowed books (overdrive) via Koreader?

Hello, I use overdrive to borrow books from my library directly to my Kobo. Is there a way to access this through Koreader? As a corollary, is there any way to access my collections from within Koreader? I have spent a large amount of time arranging tags in calibre and now it seems like I might have to go back to good old folder based library (as opposed to tags/collections based). Is there any trick to access these collections easily from within Koreader? And to be a little greedy, make t...

*METRO X* Rail & Write Game

Riding the subway/metro/tube is a real-life strategy game for beginners and country folks, but Metro X is a “Rail & Write” game with a subway theme that is way less stressful and just as fun! (I love traveling to big cities and riding the subway, but it takes some focus! We always have at least […]

Chapter & Text file counts and Chapter splits

1. Any ideas how to create custom columns with the number of Chapters (i.e. h1, h2… headers), and the number of "Text" files (html, xhtml etc) 2. Is there a way to merge epub 'text' files with arbitrary file boundaries into a single file, and then spilt that file into chapter files. I know how to do it for one book in the calibre editor - but I want to do it for a library of several thousand books. BR

Rickie Lee Jones talks ‘Last Chance Texaco’ and tales of music, heartache, addiction and family

Singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones says she decided to write her life story for one simple reason. The material was just so good. “I know I have great stories to tell,” she says recently by phone from her home in New Orleans. “I’ve told a few to audiences in live shows, and told them to friends, and watched them play in my head again and again.” Readers can now get the chance to experience these tales themselves in Jones’s memoir, “Last Chance Texaco,” which hit stores on April 6. She recounts t...

*TIKI TOPPLE* Tactical Totem Game

A tiki is a carved statue in the form of an exaggerated human face that is significant in ancient Polynesian cultures for its supernatural power over evil. Blond Man with Skeleton Tattoos

I love that swirly hair fabric! When I find a fabric that is so perfect, I try to buy it in all the possible hair colors. That is a fancy antique glass button. He is hanging out on the porch, catching some warm(er) breezes. The potted plants are beginning to creep out as the days and nights get warmer- ie not going below freezing. The smaller pot has mint in it, coming back to life after being ignored all winter.

Brass Wall Sconces: 1, 2, & 3

I’m nearing completion on my bathroom remodel. I’ll be featuring that next on the blog after I finish the grouting then install the new light fixtures. I spent a lot of time in my search for the perfect bathroom vanity fixtures comparing styles, finishes, and prices. The lighting and the hardware is the jewelry so I had to find ones that complemented the style of the space. I settled on these brass vanity lights, they are traditional but elegant too. You’ll see those in the refreshed bathroom sp...

I am betting on the Tauntaun in LEGO's Hoth playset

I think the Tauntaun is gonna win every fight in this LEGO microfighters Hoth playset. If we ignore the whole 'Luke's Tauntaun was dead before an AT-AT was on Hoth' thing, and then the entire concept of 'scale' — this kit is cool. — Read the rest

DeDRM no longer works with automatic adding?

Recently lost my old system and didn't have a proper backup :( With my previus setup, Hazel would automatically copy downloaded Kindle books into a folder that Calibre monitored for automatic adding. DeDRM would do its magic, and Calibre would convert the Kindle books to epubs. Just installed the latest Calibre and DeDRM and this is no longer working —*the Kindle books are not having the DRM removed. DeDRM works if I manually import them. Is there any way to make this work?

Feature Request for quick navigation

I was reading a puzzle book with my daughter. After solving each question, I was supposed to verify the answer. And this is where I have come up with an idea to request this feature. Currently, I need to navigate to the answer page every time I want to verify. For this I need to remember the page number of both pages. Otherwise, the navigation link need to be associated with each question as well as answer. I was suggesting if the link can be associated with each question automatically to show...
