Has anyone used bookscan.us recently?

I saw that some people here have used them and had good results (albeit it was years ago). I have an order that I'm trying to put through with them right now, but, it's odd, I sent the books over and filled out their order form, and then they stopped communicating. I haven't sent them any money, but I did send them my books (which they were supposed to non-destructively scan for a fee) so I hope this is just some unforeseen issue. It's been about a week. If this is some chicanery I suppose I...

Fresh, New Paint Jobs – Joshua Tree Custom Cerakote, LLC

If you have cannonballed into the firearm industry like most people reading this, one thing we all love to do is customize our weapons. Whether it is with laser beams, red dots, flashlights, a fresh new finish, or all of the above. I, personally, have fallen into the latter category where I took a once […] Read More … The post Fresh, New Paint Jobs – Joshua Tree Custom Cerakote, LLC appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

Is there a way to queue up files for compression?

I ask because I bought some humble bundles from last year and most of them are over the 100 mb limit and I don't fancy having to compress them one after the other and there is like over 50 of them

Endnotes are not working even though they are working on iOS & macOS

So, I made an epub, validated it and everything works fine. Now, I sent it to my Google Play Books to make sure it works, and it does. However, the endnotes links are broken on the endnote page. So, when I click a superscript, it shows a popup (the direction is wrong in the popup.) If I click on "Show on the page" it takes me to the endnotes page. Which is correct. However, when I click on the same superscript to take me back to where I was, it does not do anything. Any idea how different Goog...

Libra Random screensaver no longer showing

Earlier today, my Libra was showing my chosen screensaver when sleeping or powered off, with the info panel displayed. After connecting it to my PC to remove a book I'd finshed with via Calibre, when I ejected it, the screensaver had vanished. I thought maybe a firmware update had come down OTA, but after finding out there had not been I re-ran koboaptch to see if that helped. There have been no changes at all to my settings, as shown in the images attached. What would cause this? (the image I u...

Sub-$200 for pdf, djvu, etc.

I know the recommendation is to use 10"+ screens for viewing fixed-format documents, but so far all the options I've seen are out of my price range. Waterproofing is a big bonus for me, so I'm tempted by the kobo libra H20. I saw someone say they're happy using one to read PDF in landscape. Compared to a smartphone, this still seems like a big improvement to me. Are there other options in or close to my price range I should be considering? Any other thoughts? Thanks!

‘Snake Eyes’ Toys Give Us Our First Look at the ‘G.I. Joe Origins’ Characters

Rather than getting some stills directly from the movie or even some set pics, our first real look at Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins comes in the form of…toys. Perhaps the powers that be assumed that since G.I. Joe originated as a toy series it only makes sense to give us our first glimpse of the new G.I. Joe movie in toy form. Perhaps not. In any case, if you’re interested in seeing tiny plastic effigies of Henry Golding, Andrew Koji, Samara Weaving, and more, please keep on reading. There ha...

Accessories Cover for Oasis: Yes or no?

I got a new Oasis the other day and am debating whether or not to get a cover like this MoKo. I never had a case for my old Paperwhite, but for some (possibly irrational) reason the Oasis feels more delicate. But, I'm worried it will just add bulk and that the front cover will end up getting in the way more than anything. In general do you recommend a cover for the Oasis? Why or why not?

Can You Help Me Join the 2A Fight ~ Open Letter from a Moderately Anti-Gun Liberal

Can You Help Me Join the 2A Fight ~ Open Letter from a Moderately Anti-Gun Liberal New Jersey – -(AmmoLand.com)- Two years ago I was a moderately anti-gun liberal living in one of the bluest states in the country, going on my first trip to the range with a friend to rent and shoot. Last year I became a liberal first-time gun owner, and this year I’m starting to fight against my party in New Jersey to gain access to my constitutional right to carry a firearm. So what exactly happened? Well, a ...

Biden orders gun control actions — but they show his limits

By ALEXANDRA JAFFE, AAMER MADHANI and MICHAEL BALSAMO WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden put on a modest White House ceremony Thursday to announce a half-dozen executive actions to combat what he called an “epidemic and an international embarrassment” of gun violence in America. But he said much more is needed. And while Biden had proposed the most ambitious gun-control agenda of any modern presidential candidate, his moves underscored his limited power to act alone on guns with difficult pol...

Get Outside the Box (and house) with the Walrus Sofa

This excellent outdoor sofa system from Extremis will have you slapping your head and exclaiming, “why didn’t I think of that?” It may also set you to wondering, “who is the Walrus?” In this case, it’s outdoor seating that solves the dilemma of the soaking-wet pillow or the cushions that have been stored in the shed. As designer Dirk Wynants says, “The eternal struggle with ugly protective covers and easy-to-lose pillows is finally a thing of the past.” The Walrus Sofa is an in...

Indiana State Senator Liz Brown (R), and Leadership, Kills Constitutional Carry, iStock-884171528 U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Indiana appeared to have a good chance of passing Constitutional Carry in 2021. New Dot Sight With No Glass? Is This The Future Of Optics?

I recently came across a neat youtube video showcasing what looks to be a red dot sight right out of a futuristic video game. So […] Read More … The post New Dot Sight With No Glass? Is This The Future Of Optics? appeared first on The Firearm Blog.

The Threat of DRM-Infused Home Gunbuilding

Opinion By: Alex Holladay, Ivan the Troll, and Matt Larosiere The Threat of DRM-Infused Home Gunbuilding U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Many of us bore witness this week to what seemed like the entire firearms community coming down on a single man. The issues were multi-faceted, from allegations of collaboration with gun controllers to straight-up gun control advocacy. The veracity of most of these claims are disputed, but there is one issue that deeply concerned us: the threat of top-down, digita...

PRS-505 Missing fonts when zoomed in

I still have an ancient Sony PRS-505 and been using it for my light readings which don't involve heavy graphics, high-res images etc. Recently, I've stumbled upon some pdf files which aren't formatted with utf-8 so when viewed with PRS-505, the texts were missing some accented letters. I've followed some guides in the devs corner and managed to embed local fonts into the device. Now it seems to be working fine thanks to the hard work of the devs :thanks: But... when I zoom in the pdf files using...

Biden-Harris Regime Calling Them ‘INITIAL Actions’ Tells Us All We Need to Know

Biden and Garland hope to impose citizen disarmament by imperial diktat (NRA-ILA) U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Today, the Biden-Harris Administration is announcing six initial actions to address the gun violence public health epidemic,” an anticipated White House “fact sheet” declared Thursday. That the professionally crafted propaganda characterized itself as factual was the first evidence of gaslighting, as was the demonstrably false epidemic characterization. That admitting these are but “in...

List PDF annotations

Is it possible to list all annotations done in a PDF? I use NeoReader in my Boox, and other PDF Viewers in iOS/Android and all of them allow show the list of annotated pages in one or other way, like showing thumbnails of annotated pages or a listing of annotations. I cannot find anything similar in KOReader (Android version). Surely I'm missing it because I think it is a basic thing to do.

Regrets about the Touch HD 3

Dear all, I'm sorry that this may be a bit of a rant, but a long time ago I've bought the Touch HD 3, when version 6 was just out. It did not remember the pages, crashed a lot, and froze when reading pdf's. After contacting their support, which wasn't great at all, multiple times they said they solved it. The reader still crashes, freezes, and sometimes doesn't remember the page number. The cloud went offline, the reader set itself to Russian (I'm Dutch), and I seem to have received one of the b...
