Here’s a DIY tablecloth for Fourth of July that’s so easy that truly anyone—from kindergarteners to the arts-and-crafts-averse—can make it. Perhaps best of all? It’s blessedly understated, which means it can have a life well after the fireworks are over. I wasn't sure what they were at first, and with the twisted coil at one end, I immediately thought they were candle holders. When I looked closer, I saw they were labeled as "plant props" and were meant for holding up fragile saplings and plants. Pretty handy tool for gardening, but that doesn't mean I can't still use them for what I though they were! Let me show you how I turned these 79-cent...

This sized bag has plenty of room for the treats I want to put inside. Cut out the number of bag tags you need using a paper trimmer or scissors. For the "snap", I added two boxes of snap pops. You can get pa...

19 Patriotic T-Shirts You’ll Have a Blast in This 4th of July!

I was at the U2 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree album the other night. I forgot how much the album was steeped in Americana. The screen behind the Irish band flashed proud images of the American flag. Bono did take the stand on some political issues, as expected, but his overall message was that the people are more powerful than the people in power. And it got me thinking in this time of political uncertainty in the USA: Hey, we’re all one country. We pledge allegiance to the same flag. We s...
