can't fetch image with an unicode url

Hello, I have tried to create my own recipe but I encountered some problem. I could not fetch image files if it is in an unicode url. For example, when ebook-convert try to fetch an article (https://www.hbrkorea.com/article/vie...rticle_no/1566), an error occurs, saying "could not fetch image https://www.hbrkorea.com/upload_dir/...2_표.jpg How can I fix it? Thanks

News - automatic download to device

I cant remember if this is something I've selected in the past or whether its an inherent part of calibre operation - the description of recipe operation suggests it might be inherent as it says news will be downloaded to a device if one is connected at the time the 'news' book is created. Anyway, is this something I can turn off ? I much more often read 'news' books on the PC at the moment so would prefer to select those I want to download. Would changing 'main' in send_news_to_device_locatio...

Hi All, I have an issue with my custom recipe for a Hungarian political magazine. The Hindu News Paper Receipe

I was using the builtin recipe for The Hindu newspaper, but there are few changes I feel that needs to be updated. I tried updating the source code but was not successful. So Kovid can you please help in implementing the below functionality: 1. In the omit list you have omitted news from all different states, and I tried to include 3 states of my liking. So I removed Karnataka, TamilNadu and Kerala from the omit list. And it worked and I started getting the news for that region. But there is ...

BBC News fetch fails due to conversion error

Beginning about a week ago the Calibre recipe to fetch BBC News began to fail due to at least one conversion error. I reported this today to https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre. The recipe author is "mattst", not Kovid Goyal. I noticed that at times in past if someone else has authored the recipe, Mr. Goval has suggested the bug reporter note the problem in this forum. Hence this message. If you're also experiencing this problem or have any insights as to a solution, please share. I'm using Wind...

debug mechanize

Hi, I tried to add a login to the FAZ recipe. The added code seems to work in principle. I had some error messages related to syntax I was able to fix. When I change the form ID to something other than the actual ID I get an error message, so I believe the form is processed. However, the downloaded news are the ones for not logged in users (only showing the first couple of paragraphs). Is there a way to log what is sent forth and back between Calibre and the news site, the http requests and...
