February Monthly Spread

I decided to start decorating my monthly spreads for 2021 and I love what I did for February so much. When looking back on my filled 2020 planner, I regretted not decorating my monthly pages. It didn't take much time and this one was completely fun. I used stickers from The Encourager Sticker Book as well as the Rainbow Mega Pack sticker book, using the red colored stickers. I think it's a great way to add in a seasonal touch each month as I have a very neutral Teresa Collins Happy Planner. Al...

I discovered Zoologist Perfumes for myself just a couple of years ago, and to this day, I still have not tried out all of them. I am honestly quite charmed by the collection - both the concept and the execution. I adore animalic notes in perfumery, and in Zoologist Perfumes you find those as true to life as possible, while demonstrating great variety at the same time. Those are very precise ... The “Academic Tarot”: 22 Major Arcana Cards Representing Life in the Academic Humanities Under COVID-19

“Speculations about the creators of Tarot cards include the Sufis, the Cathars, the Egyptians, Kabbalists, and more,” writes “expert cartomancer” Joshua Hehe. All of these suppositions are wrong, it seems. “The actual historical evidence points to northern Italy sometime in the early part of the 1400s,” when the so-called “major arcana” came into being. “Contrary to what many have claimed, there is absolutely no proof of the Tarot having originated in any other time or place.” A bold claim, yet...

Podcast #683: How to Think Like a Renaissance Man

When we think about the Renaissance, we think of a great flowering in artistic creativity and intellectual innovation; we think about the beautiful paintings and sculptures of Michelangelo, the astute discoveries of Copernicus, the timeless plays of Shakespeare. Ironically though, this great creative flowering was spurred by men who were educated under a system that, by our modern lights, can seem rather rigid and rote.  My guest today unpacks this seeming paradox. His name is Scott Newstok, ...

Rediscovering the Perfect Almond Scent for Spring

Acqua di Parma’s 1999 Mandorlo di Sicilia is a rare breed of fragrance – an under-the-radar scent from a big brand with a unique aesthetic, expressing olfactory qualities that sit in contradiction to expectation: It is refreshing without using classically refreshing materials; it is soothing without being cloying; it is succulent without being saccharine; its nuttiness never edges into parody;...

Here are some fabulous recipes from top chefsChillies come in such a bewildering array of shapes and colours these days that it doesn’t pay to be too specific: if a recipe calls for a particular sort, you are bound to be unable to find it. Aging Well, Your Way

I used to think that aging well was about looking younger than your years. These days I believe that it has much more to do with a positive attitude and balanced state of mind, than physical appearance. It’s key to get your priorities right and think more holistically in order to enjoy the aging process and find peace in your heart. If you don’t, you’re a lot more vulnerable to feeling lost, unworthy, invisible, unattractive, and unhappy as you get older. Just like there is no one way to be styl...
