How to Find the Right Attorney in Georgia for Your Injury Case

Choosing the right attorney for your particular personal injury case is never easy. Legal dramas and movies taught us – wrongly – that the best attorney in town could try everything from car accident insurance claims to criminal defense and from antitrust trials to wills and divorce. It is not the case. Great attorneys can handle a few different legal areas, correct, but the one you need is the one that can prove specialization, experience, and significant success rate in the particular area o...

6 Reasons Why You Should Consider Moving to Chicago

Being someone from a small town, I’ve always had those big city aspirations. There’s nothing wrong with living in a town where basically everyone knows everybody. About 8 years ago, we moved to a much bigger city which is right next to Atlanta. With my daughter graduating high school in less than three years, we’re thinking about moving again. We’re open to pretty much anywhere in America and the big city is what we’re eyeing. We have thought about just moving to Atlanta and other cities like ...

I'm a former camp director. Here's why we shouldn't get too excited about the CDC report showing how Maine camps hosted 1,000 kids and counselors with only three coronavirus cases.

Not all camps have been able to operate safely this summer amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Thomas Barwick/Getty Images A recent CDC report revealed how four summer camps in Maine were able to operate while successfully limiting COVID-19 transmission. Jack Hodgson, a former director at a non-profit New Jersey summer camp, now a postgraduate researcher at Northumbria University in Newcastle, England, says this is encouraging news — but there are several caveats. Not every camp will have the infras...

School nurses could lead the defense against COVID-19 in schools — but many schools in the US don't even have one

According to data from 2016, a quarter of schools in the US did not employ a nurse at all that year. FatCamera/Getty Images Meg Sorg is a clinical assistant professor of nursing at Purdue University and a former pediatric nurse practitioner. As schools around the US begin to reopen for in-person classes amid the pandemic, Sorg says many school nurses will be tasked with having to screen students for COVID-19 symptoms on top of their usual duties. But according to data from 2016, a...

New Digital Archive Opens Access to Thousands of Digitized African American Funeral Programs (1886-2019)

Funeral rites, burials, and other rituals are held near-universally sacred, not only due to religious and cultural beliefs about death: We preserve our connection to our ancestors through the records of their births and deaths. For many Black Americans in the U.S. south, grief and loss have been compounded by centuries of violence and tragedy, but funerals have still tended to be “celebrations of life” rather than mournful events, says Derek Mosley, archivist at the Auburn Avenue Research Libra...

Coronavirus Pressure

For quite a while my home state of Nevada was seeing less than 200 new coronavirus cases per day. Then the casinos, bars, and many other local businesses were allowed to reopen. I soon saw the stats creeping up to 300-400 new cases per day… then to 500-1000 per day. Now we’re around 1400 new cases per day. Hospitals are filling up and getting close to capacity. We’re also seeing more days with double-digit deaths from the virus. This isn’t too surprising, especially given what Rachelle and I ...

Sydney Grace Warm (Light) Mystery Bag Review & Swatches (2020)

Warm (Light) Sydney Grace Warm (Light) Mystery Bag (2020) ($25.00 for 0.89 oz.) contains five eyeshadows (two shimmers, three mattes), one blush, one loose highlighter, and one loose glitter. Everything performed consistently with past products I’ve tried in the respective formulas; all the products were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Belle of Georgia, Sweet Peach, and Picking Peaches are specific to the Light version of ...

Quarantine with my ex changes my opinion about good careers

Things Nino hates about me: I yell. I’m ungrateful. I threw things when we were married. Things I hate about Nino: That he left. Five years ago I supported the kids after the divorce, so he’s always had save-the-world jobs that pay almost nothing. But he came to the farm every weekend to see the kids. Once he had to skip two weekends for a work trip. I said, “Are you going to Europe?” “No,” he said. “Georgia.” “For two weeks? For what?” “It’s actually just one week, but I’m taking the bus th...

This or That: Coral Blush Edition

This week, I shared my breakdown of how to make more critical comparisons between two products when you’re choosing between two options, whether you’re in decluttering mode or considering a new purchase or have been tempted by something new and shiny! Here are those methods applied to some of the recommendations I made in my A to Z Guide to Coral Blush. In that post, I included a variety of shades from light to dark, matte to shimmer, cooler to warmer and so on across different brands and price...

Revlon Brazilian Tan, Pink Cognito, Love is On Super Lustrous Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

Brazilian Tan Revlon Brazilian Tan Super Lustrous Lipstick ($8.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a light-medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a natural sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which made it more pigmented than described, but could be an upside for those who prefer fuller coverage lipstick. The texture felt lightweight, emollient without being slippery, and thin but not clingy. It stayed on nicely fo...

This article was originally published in June 2015. Few masculine archetypes are as mysterious and compelling as that of the monastic warrior. Pick One Beauty Brand That Just Isn’t Doing It For You Anymore

Have you fallen out of love with a certain beauty brand? A brand you just aren’t into anymore? One you aren’t even following for new launches? If you had to pick one beauty brand that just isn’t doing it for you anymore which would you choose to break up with without any regret? I was thinking about this for a while and I hate to say it but Urban Decay kept popping into my mind. The formula just isn’t the same, the releases seem so phoned in, there aren’t any truly interesting palette relea...

Persona Georgia Super Blush Review & Swatches

Georgia Persona Georgia Super Blush ($22.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a brighter pop of medium coral-orange with strong, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, so I’d say it was more pigmented than it was naturally buildable, but the texture was yielding and workable for use with a lighter hand (or less-dense brush) to achieve more buildable coverage with the right technique. The consistency was...

A bunch of antigay senators sold off millions of stocks prior to coronavirus outbreak

At least three antigay Republican senators and one Democrat sold millions of dollars worth of stock shortly after receiving closed-door briefings about the impending coronavirus crisis. Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia, and Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma have all been accused of violating the STOCK Act, a law that bars members of Congress from making financial trades using nonpublic information. Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California is also implicated. Burr is ...

Benefit Georgia Blush Review & Swatches (2020)

Georgia (2020) Benefit Georgia (2020) Box o’ Powder ($29.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium, orange-peach with a satin finish. It had finer, golden pearl throughout that buffed out to a more satin-like glow on my skin–not quite shimmery but a step above matte. It had a smoother, almost velvety texture to the touch, but it was very prone to developing hard pan–it had hardened in places after two uses. It had good color coverage in a sing...

Essence Blooming The Blush Review & Swatches

Blooming Essence Blooming The Blush ($2.99 for 0.17 oz.) is a light peach with moderate, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, but its lightness in color (period) is to the point where it just barely showed up on my skin tone, which make it a little harder to see the impact of on my cheeks (but it was there!). The texture was soft, a smidgen powdery but not dry, and it had a touch ...

Was bedeutet “woke”?

‘And Then We Danced’ Director Levan Akin on when a movie gets you death threats

Director Levan Akin on set with Levan Gelbakhiani “Can we sit outside? I need to smoke.” Levan Akin makes the request when we greet him outside a bookstore in Park City, Utah. The two of us find a cafe table nearby overlooking the street, where we watch a light powdering of snow begin to fall as the mid-week lull of the Sundance Film Festival begins. Normally we might object to Akin smoking, but in his case, it somehow makes sense. His Sundance entry, And Then We Danced, has incited protests ...
