Liza Womack, the mother of Lil Peep, claims the late rapper’s record label is withholding $4 million in royalties from his estate, Rolling Stone reports. Womack says the label, First Access Entertainment, has admitted that the money is owed but is refusing to pay out in a “transparent” attempt to undermine Womack’s wrongful death lawsuit against the label.

The experimental jazz collective followed it up pretty quickly, recording a new album called Open The Gates in just a day this past January. That album arrives in November, and we’ve already heard one song from it, its title track. Today, they’re back with another one.

IDLES – “The Beachland Ballroom”

Two years ago, we posted the phrase Kenny Beats Is Working On The New IDLES Album, which was factually true even if the end results were a little underwhelming. (The hip-hop producer ended up only providing some additional programming on their 2020 album Ultra Mono.) But today IDLES are announcing a whole new album, CRAWLER, which was co-produced in its entirety by Kenny Beats. The band’s guitarist Mark Bowen also served as producer, and they recorded in at Bath’s Real World Studios during the p...

Public Urination At Glastonbury Festival Blamed For Dangerous Levels Of MDMA And Cocaine In Whitelake River

Researchers have blamed public urination at Glastonbury Festival in 2019 for the dangerous levels of MDMA and cocaine found in the Whitelake River, which runs adjacent to the festival grounds. As the BBC reports, measurements that were taken before, during, and after the festival two years ago found that MDMA concentrations had quadrupled in the water the week following the festival, mainly due to seepage into the river water from the soil on the Glastonbury grounds.

‘The Jesus Music’ explores Christian contemporary music’s Southern California origins and beyond

Filmmakers Andrew and Jon Erwin weren’t sure what to do with themselves after the COVID-19 pandemic shut things down in 2020, but then, like a voice from above, inspiration struck. “Our producing partner said, ‘You know, nobody’s ever looked at a kind of origin story of the history of Christian music,’” Andrew Erwin says recently by phone from Nashville. The Erwin brothers, whose production company specializes in faith-based films such as the 2018 drama “I Can Only Imagine” and the forthcoming “...

Album Of The Week: Illuminati Hotties Let Me Do One More

“I feel like I can kind of do whatever I want.” That’s the reigning ethos of Sarah Tudzin, the sharp songwriter and studio wizard behind Illuminati Hotties. Between her auspicious 2018 debut Kiss Yr Frenemies and last year’s slapdash fuck-you “mixtape” Free I.H.: This Is Not The One You’ve Been Waiting For, Illuminati Hotties songs run the gamut — Tudzin can churn out sparkling pop-punk rippers and spaced-out acoustic warbles with the best of them. She’s proven herself to be endlessly determined...
