The 2021 NAMM Show is free and virtual: Here’s what to see online

For the first time in its 120-year history, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) is inviting in the general public to check out the latest innovations in musical products, recording technology, sound, lighting and much more. While the in-person event was canceled for 2021, the NAMM Show is going virtual. Typically, the weeklong NAMM Show is a badge-only event, but this year’s virtual version, dubbed the Believe in Music Week, is open to anyone who registers at believeinmusic.tv. Th...

She Rocks Awards go virtual (and free) in 2021 with The Go-Go’s, Nancy Wilson and more

Last year’s She Rocks Awards ended on a high note with honoree Gloria Gaynor singing her inspiring hit “I Will Survive.” Little did anyone know what the rest of 2020 had in store: a global pandemic that continues to keep the live entertainment industry largely shut down. However, the show will go on. The 2021 She Rocks Awards, which is typically held at House of Blues Anaheim in conjunction with the NAMM Show at the Anaheim Convention Center, has pivoted to a virtual experience due to the contin...

NAMM cancels 2021 convention in Anaheim due to coronavirus

The 2021 NAMM Show, which was scheduled for the week of Jan. 18, 2021 at the Anaheim Convention Center, has officially been canceled due to the continued spread of COVID-19. Organizers announced on Monday that with the health and safety of NAMM members being a top priority, the in-person event would be canceled. NAMM 2020: She Rocks Awards deliver powerful performances from Gloria Gaynor, Suzi Quatro and more

The speeches were as powerful as the performances at the 8th Annual She Rocks Awards at House of Blues Anaheim Friday night. The event, which is part of the 2020 NAMM Show happening at the adjacent Anaheim Convention Center, celebrated the careers of women in the music and audio industries. Put together each year by the Women’s International Music Network founder Laura B. Whitmore, the 2020 She Rocks Awards was hosted by Yahoo Entertainment music editor Lyndsey Parker and saxophonist-vocalist Mi...

Álex Lora, the godfather of Mexican rock and roll, celebrates 50 years on the road with El Tri in Anaheim

When Álex Lora played his first shows with Three Souls In My Mind, a Mexican band with English lyrics and a psychedelic name, it was October 1968. He was a 15-year-old kid from the state of Puebla, and his dreams only reached as far as the next gig, and then the one after that. Fifty years later, Lora is considered the godfather of Mexican rock and roll, his band, now named El Tri, is referred to as the Rolling Stones of Mexico, and his dream remains the same: Rock as hard you can on any given n...

It Takes Two: The Big Business Of Twinning On YouTube

At VidCon, the annual conference that celebrates all things Internet #content, it isn’t uncommon to see screaming middle school-aged girls flocking towards their favorite creator with the same fervor as a Black Friday shopper sprinting towards Best Buy’s TV section. If the latter is a crowd comprised of sleep-deprived deal hunters with a death-grip on their coffee thermoses, the former is an overwhelming wave of glitter-covered braids, sling backpacks, and t-shirts bearing slogans such as “Don’...
