Rock band Devo and psychedelic soul group Black Pumas will be among the first artists to take the stage at the all-new Performance Venue located at the sprawling Hollywood Park and under the same roof as SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. (And yes, we’re told that’s what the name of the performance venue is — Performance Venue — at least for now.) The 6,000-capacity theater is scheduled to open later this year with Latin rock band Caifanes kicking things off on Sept. 4, though it’s possible more acts ma...

See what concerts at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium will be like in 2021

Though SoFi Stadium in Inglewood will be home base for both the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, there’s an even bigger vision for the sprawling 298-acre Hollywood Park than football. SoFi Stadium, the new 3-million-square-foot centerpiece of Hollywood Park, was slated to open July 25th with two sold-out shows by singer-songwriter Taylor Swift; the rest of the summer was scheduled to be stacked with massive concerts by Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Guns N’ Roses and The Stadium Tour with Mötley Crüe,...

Guns N’ Roses reschedules SoFi Stadium stop in Inglewood due to coronavirus

Guns N’ Roses is the latest band to announce a rescheduled tour because of the novel coronavirus global pandemic. The Los Angeles rock band has been selling out stadiums and arenas since reuniting in 2016 and was set to headline Inglewood’s new SoFi Stadium on Aug. 8 while out on its massive summer 2020 trek. However, like most of the tours mapped out for this year, GN’R has opted to reschedule those dates. Fans who purchased tickets are more than welcome to hang on to them for the new, yet-to-b...

The Long Beach Dub Allstars talk new music, local politics and more

It’s been a long 19 years since the Long Beach Dub Allstars released their last record. But this month, fans of the reggae-rockers will finally get to hear new music when the band releases its new self-titled album on May 29. It’s a 10-track record described by band members as a more grown-up version of the famously party-loving band that formed in 1997 out of the demise of Sublime after the death of the band’s influential frontman Bradley Nowell. The original 10-piece Allstars lineup included f...

Orange County rock band Lit’s Jeremy and Ajay debut new country project The Popoff Brothers

As brothers Jeremy and Ajay Popoff, who are, respectively, the guitarist and vocalist of Fullerton-based rock band Lit, sat with fellow songwriters Kenton Bryant and Johnathan Singleton in Nashville, Tenn., to work on a batch of songs, they kept conjuring up vignettes of summer. Playing baseball in the street, cracking open a cold Coca-Cola on a hot day, watching the sunset, counting the stars and squishing sand between your toes at the beach. These were all the moments captured in the song “Son...

Green Day reschedules its Hella Mega Tour to 2021 due to coronavirus

Although tours and festivals have been canceled left and right due to the continued global spread of novel coronavirus, rock fans were holding out hope that somehow, someway, Green Day would be able to pull off the U.S. dates of its Hella Mega Tour. Sadly, the East Bay trio officially pulled the plug on the summer 2020 trek, which was originally scheduled to play out in stadiums across the U.S. with Weezer, Fall Out Boy and The Interrupters including Petco Park in San Diego on July 24 and Dodger...
