Los Lobos’ Fourth of July So Cal Drive In show postponed

The Fourth of July drive-in style concert featuring Los Lobos and Mariachi El Bronx at So Cal Drive In at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado has officially been postponed. Promoters said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution and the current COVID-19 climate. The number of positive cases continues to rise in Southern California and surrounding counties have received either direct shutdown orders or have been cautioned by Gov. Gavin Newsom this week. The show has been rescheduled for Aug....

Miss concerts? Drive-in shows with major acts are coming to Southern California starting July 4th

Back in May, in an op-ed piece in The Atlantic by Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters’ frontman said that although the coronavirus global pandemic had put the music industry and live events on pause, there would be a time when we all could rock again. “Because we have to,” he said. “It’s not a choice.” As the state begins to open back up, promoters and bands are coming up with clever ways to bring live music back to the masses. A trio of promoters including Jon Reiser of Garden Amp in Garden Grove, fes...

Angry Again: An Interview with the Bronx

Punk rock stalwarts the Bronx have a history of defying expectations. For starters, despite the name, they're from Los Angeles. After forming in 2002, the band released a series of self-titled albums featuring breakneck, go-for-the-jugular anthems that were raw, dangerous, and viscerally fun. But, after achieving a level of success that often leads to complacency, the Bronx risked their reputation when they adopted the alter-ego Mariachi El Bronx and released two records of authentic mari...

Video: The Bronx, ‘Sore Throat’

Few groups in the music biz have a more head-spinning split personality than long-running L.A. quintet The Bronx. Flip the switch up, and they are the ironically named hardcore punk bad boys who launched their career in 2003 on a label (their own) called White Drugs with singles like “They Will Kill Us All (Without Mercy)” and “Bats!” Flip the switch down, and they are Mariachi El Bronx, the authentic, charro-suited Mexican folk band they started on a lark five years later. They even routinely f...
