Matthew Tkachuk just took the crown for best goal of the young NHL season — and maybe the decade. Tkachuk is flying full-speed into the slot and redirects a pass — through his legs — to win the game with two seconds remaining in overtime. DID MATTHEW TKACHUK (@TKACHUKycheese_) JUST DO THAT?

No. 20 Appalachian State loses unbeaten season and New Year's Six shot with loss to Georgia Southern

Appalachian State's chances at a New Year's Six bowl are toast. The No. 20 Mountaineers were dominated at home Thursday night by Georgia Southern in a 24-21 loss. The defeat ends App State's chance at an undefeated season and, likely, the Sun Belt's hope of being the third conference to secure a prestigious spot in a big bowl game.

Blazing start, brilliant finish put McIlroy one off the lead at WGC-HSBC Champions

You start missing a couple of fairways, missing a couple of greens and this course all of a sudden gets pretty tricky,” McIlroy said. It's easy from the fairways, but I sort of veered off them a little bit around the middle of the round. WGC-HSBC Champions: Full-field scores | Full coverage McIlroy made only one birdie over an 11-hole stretch, compared to two bogeys, and found himself three off the pace with one hole to play.

Trump and His Defenders Keep Tossing Around Legal Terms. Here’s What They Really Mean.

Alex Wong/Getty“Due process.” “The right to confront your accuser.” “Hearsay.”In what can only be described as a cynical ploy, President Donald Trump and his supporters keep tossing out legal terminology to attack those who seek to hold him accountable for alleged misconduct in the impeachment inquiry currently underway in the House of Representatives. The idea seems to be to confuse members of the public by using legal terms that sound valid, but have no application to the matter for which they...

49ers linebacker Kwon Alexander ruled out with chest injury

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Kwon Alexander was ruled out for the remainder of Thursday night's game with the Arizona Cardinals due to a chest injury. Alexander left the game in the fourth quarter and was ruled out shortly thereafter. While the 49ers seemingly avoided injury scares to tight end George Kittle and defensive tackle Arik Armstead early in the game, the loss of Alexander would be a blow for a 49ers defense that has been impressive over the first half of the season.
