Elizabeth Warren slams Michael Bloomberg for alleged history of sexist remarks in tense Democratic debate

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, in one of her strongest debate performances thus far, aggressively and relentlessly called on Michael Bloomberg to apologize for his alleged history of misogynistic comments about women and to release women who signed non-disclosure agreements with his company so they could freely about their experience in his employ.

Mercy Rule?

Elizabeth Warren spent the first hour of the debate mopping the floor with Michael Bloomberg. She dunked on him for a while, then she started forcing him into making errors, like this one: “ None of them accuse me of  doing anything other than maybe  they didn’t like a joke I told.” Brutal. A moment later Bloomberg awkwardly used the word consensual when describing his company’s nondisclosure agreements. That came after further prodding by Joe Biden, but he was picking up Warren’s line...

Quite A Twofer

Just returning quickly to the Elizabeth Warren evisceration of Michael Bloomberg: I’d like to talk about who  we’re running against.  A billionaire who calls women  fat broads and horse-faced  lesbians, and no I’m not talking  about Donald Trump, I’m talking  about Mayor Bloomberg. It’s quite a twofer. She gets to go toe-to-toe with Bloomberg, who was standing right next to her, and demonstrate exactly what she would do on stage with Trump in the general. And she did it while noting t...

What’s Warren Up To?

Elizabeth Warren started the night off with a slashing attack on Michael Bloomberg from which he doesn’t yet seem to have recovered. But in her next go around, Warren launched broadsides against Buttigieg, Klobuchar, and to a lesser extent Sanders, over their health care plans. She followed up with another sharp line of attack on Buttigieg and Klobuchar. There’s not enough to go on yet to say her strategy is to target Buttigieg and Klobuchar. But Warren is in a tough spot at this stage of the...

Smoked

We’re 10 minutes in, and Bloomberg is getting rocked. Elizabeth Warren got it going with a withering fusillade on Bloomberg’s treatment of women. Quickly, everyone else piled on. Bloomberg, for his part, did not take visible offense to Warren’s attack lines, and didn’t immediately respond. When he a chance to respond later, he let the charges against him for mistreating women go unanswered. You knew it would be a tough night for Bloomberg, but wow. [Author: David Kurtz]

Bernie Sitting Pretty

A fascinating night with Michael Bloomberg on the stage for the first time and an inspired performance from Elizabeth Warren, but could the night have gone any better for Bernie Sanders? Bloomberg’s gambit is to rescue the Democratic Party from Bernie Sanders, but he barely laid a glove on him, mostly because he was hemorrhaging from the Warren attacks. What volleys Bloomberg was able to get off toward Sanders were almost comical. It’s Sanders’ fault that the tax code is skewed toward billion...

How Elizabeth Warren's Camp Is Seeking to Regain the Spotlight

RENO, Nev. -- A bad month for Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts keeps getting worse. She finished in a respectable third place in the Iowa caucuses, but a results-tallying meltdown muddled what could have been a good evening. New Hampshire was better at logistics but worse for her candidacy, considering she ended up closer to candidates who dropped out after the primary than those who finished on top.On Sunday, Warren had a cold so severe it threatened to sideline one of the country's m...

Mike Bloomberg is not the lesser of two evils

Like the vast majority of Americans, I have been effectively disenfranchised in the last few presidential elections. In 2011, I moved to Washington, D.C., which is so heavily Democratic that any vote for president is totally meaningless — in 2016, Hillary Clinton won with 93 percent of the vote. But last year, I moved to famously swingy Pennsylvania, and suddenly I'm a full citizen again. (I'm already lording it over my friends from California and New York.)As I have written on many occa...

The Latest: Warren calls for party unity in taking on Trump

Elizabeth Warren is preaching Democratic unity in taking on President Donald Trump, a challenge she framed as an existential crisis for America. Warren, having partly recovered her voice after catching a cold, said at a Monday afternoon town hall in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson that America is at its best when it takes on a problem. The Massachusetts senator also spoke about how she’s adopted policy plans and hired staff from Democrats who have dropped out of the race, including New York Se...

Opinion: The most radical 2020 candidate is not whom you may think

Make no mistake -- President Donald Trump is the most radical choice in the 2020 election. For all the talk about Democrats trying to figure out whether to nominate a "radical" candidate or a "moderate" one, it's, in fact, the Republican Party that has already made its choice to veer so far from the center of American politics that Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren pale in comparison to the man who currently holds the highest office in the land.
