Say You’ll Be There For The Spice Girls 2019 Tour

Spice, Forever! Everyone’s favorite Saturday Night Divas, the Spice Girls, are back (without Victoria Beckham) The Spice Girls are going back on tour! If going on tour together 10 years after their prime in the 90’s isn’t an indication of true friendship, then I don’t know what is. The group chat leading up to this must have been insane. I can’t even wake up at a reasonable hour to cancel on brunch plans for the third time. But these ladies somehow coordinated a live tour in 2019 and I alr...

Yellow Wall

I had one wall of my living room painted a particular shade of yellow. I took this for the painter's website. Processed in Lightroom(!). I cannot say enough about the NEC MultiSync PA272W. It allows me to switch from self-calibrated (print prep) to sRGB (web, which I work in all day) with the press of a button. My GX8 and X-T1 files processed in ACR to the calibrated colorspace are just lovely. Sometimes I stay up too late at night just correcting pix just to look at them. Mike (Thanks to xxx)...

Epic Music Video Made from Thousands of Photos

Indie bands have to do everything they can to stand out these days. And sometimes some good, old-fashioned innovation is all it takes to make you stand out. That’s very much the case here. Image via Pixabay from Pexels.com. This music video is a great example of photography as art with its innovative use of still photographs. Using 2,250 photographs to give the impression of moving video, “UnAmerican” from Said the Whale is an interesting pastiche of film and song. It’s really a cool effect in...

Jury’s out on PBOT’s experimental bike-friendly speed bumps

Experimental bike-friendly speed bump on SE Clinton west of 26th. (Photo: Jonathan Maus/BikePortland) I have a complicated relationship with speed bumps. “These are terrible, speed bumps have never been an issue for bikes.” “I love them.” I smiled as I rolled through without any bumping or thumping. I love them because they slow me down when I’m driving. This means streets are safer and I’m less likely to be in a crash. I like that (and my neighbors do too). But I don’t like how speed b...

Stories are short, ephemeral blobs of content — videos and pictures, mostly — which Snapchat popularized in 2013, followed by Instagram, Facebook, and… er… Skype. But for all their popularity, there aren’t that many good ways to create and manage them at scale. One option is Mish Guru, which today launched a tool to plan, create, and manage Instagram stories.
