Kawhi Leonard makes appearance on Drake's Instagram, has officially made it

He’s a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and All Star. On top of that, since coming to the Raptors organization in the offseason, his 26.2 points per game entering Sunday night placed him eighth in the league this season. Yet, all of that pales in comparison to what happened to him during his game against the the Denver Nuggets in Colorado.

Sunday Support Group: Try, Try Again

Well, I've failed my resolution. I decided early this year that I was either going to write a book in this calendar year—2018—or die trying. And I didn't. Write a book, I mean. But you know what? I'm not going to give up.  I don't have any excuse for not giving up. I probably should. I'm just not going to. I like to write, and I've been practicing it all my life, and I'm passably good at it. My problem is mental organization—I'm not very organized in my thinking, not very good at following a thr...

Santas bring holiday cheer on the slopes at Mountain High

It can’t be all work and no play for the big jolly man in the red suit. A number of Santas hit the snowy slopes at Mountain High on Sunday, a fun sight for visitors of the Wrightwood resort. Dozens of snowboarders and skiers decked out in costumes joined the fourth annual Santa Sunday, a way to celebrate the holiday season and also give back to charity. Daniel Murincsak, of Lake Forest, had not been snowboarding in 15 years and it was only his second time ever hitting the slopes. When some co...

A mobile shop serving isolated west Tokyo

The far west of Tokyo is a world away from the bright lights and busy streets the city is famous for. It’s mountainous and green for starters, plus it’s also home to bar owners in their 90s, wonderfully atmospheric old train tunnels and long since abandoned cable cars. However, that’s not the whole story, as seek out the area’s villages, and it feels altogether different again. Small pockets of civilisation that seem utterly isolated despite being located in one of the world’s most populated cit...

Thriller #2 second ironing pass finished!

After I finish a book, I get to ironing. Typically I do three passes. I call them ironing, because at this stage all the plot engine stuff and moving parts are on the page, but maybe not in the exact right places, so I have to smoothe out wrinkles. Some sections will be boggy or slow. I often get caught up in a moment and stretch it out, when it needs to be faster.  So the first ironing pass catches the worst of this. Usually I’m aware of it going in. As I write chapters, I’ll leave notes on the...

Instagram Tightens Eating Disorder Filters

AmiMoJo shares a report from the BBC: Instagram has placed more hashtags which could promote eating disorders on an "unsearchable" list after a BBC investigation found that users were finding ways around the platform's filters. The photo-sharing network has also added health warnings to several alternative spellings or terms which reference eating disorders, some of which are popular hashtags on the platform. Culture You Can Heft

In 2004, the way I interacted with culture fundamentally changed. That’s the year I got my first iPod. Before my iPod, if I wanted to listen to music, I’d have to pop a CD into my car’s 5-disc changer or bring along my Discman. When one CD was over and I wanted to listen to another, I’d have to put in another disc. If I wanted to buy a new CD, I’d mosey on down to a music store. I’d often go looking for an album from one band, but after talking to the store clerk, walk away with one fro...

Skied at Winter Park on December 15, 2018

Day two and plenty of blue (skies)! This morning I decided to make my way over to the Vasquez Ridge Territory and see how much snow it’s received. I headed up Gemini Express again and worked my way back using Prospector Express and then skiing past Olympia to get to the territory. That’s a nice long lap and with the flats at the end I was pushing hard and gave my arms a bit of a work out. Once I arrived I had the whole area to myself. I played around on some of the fast blues and...

On Traveling as a Guest: Centro Infantil de los Angeles

This spring, I was offered the chance to venture to the small, yet distinct town of San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico. I am a daily news reader and often consider the harsh global headlines to be disheartening. In light of this, I welcomed the opportunity to be involved in something which did some real good for people in other parts of the world. I wasn’t provided with many details before the trip, except that I would be accompanied by other like-minded Americans, and we would volunteer at...

DIYP reviews the WEEBILL LAB, probably best gimbal for small mirrorless cameras

I first saw Zhiyun’s Weebill LAB gimbal at IBC 2018 and then two weeks later in Photokina. When I saw it first, it was alongside the Crane 3 LAB, and I thought that the two shared a pretty weird design.  I asked Zhiyun if I can review a kit, they kindly agreed. I was blown away.
