RFT GEAR - Introducing the RFT Quick Flex Blanks

I always try to have my ear to the ground to hear what's new within the fiberglass fly rod realm and a few months ago was tipped off that Jussi Sojakka of RFT Gear was working on a series of blanks that immediately perked my interest.  I typically prefer glass rods in nearly all line weights that measure eight foot in length or less and his 7'4" 4-weight and 7'6" 5-weight sounded like neat offerings.    The RFT Quick Flex blanks and fly rods are available now in both four and five weights and ho...

The lush, painterly quality of a photograph taken with an iPhone 12 — in the woods under overcast skies, 11 minutes before sunrise.

Click and click again for a closer look. It was 5:48 a.am on the morning after a heavy thunderstorm. I stopped in the middle of my sunrise run to get a photo of the big tree limb that crossed the path. The other shot, taken 10 seconds earlier, does not show the same effect:   I can't explain the difference. I only took photographs to document the phenomenon of falling tree branches, a safety hazard the forest walker/runner must consider. [Author: [email protected] (Ann Althouse)]

‘These women wrestle for their mental and physical health – and to stick two fingers up at a male wrestling culture. Capturing them mid-flight was tricky’ Bolivia’s cholitas luchadoras began wrestling in the early 2000s. The women, indigenous Aymara Indians who have traditionally been marginalised and oppressed, took to Mexican-style lucha libre wrestling for mental and physical health – and to stick two fingers up to a culture where wrestling was strictly a male preserve. For many it was also a...
