A walk around Lockerbie Square.

I'm back home now, but I was in Indianapolis for a few days. Some photos from the Lockerbie Square Historic District. The last picture is the home of the "Hoosier Poet" James Whitcomb Riley (which got me to recite "Little Orphant Annie," something I've known by heart for more than 60 years): [Author: [email protected] (Ann Althouse)]

The empty plots and exposed buildings of disappearing old Tokyo

Over the last year and a half or so, I’ve been putting together before and after photos of traditional old Tokyo homes, bars and little businesses that have sadly been demolished. Places full of stories that have now gone forever, plus in most cases the end result is like the buildings never even existed at all. All that said, such changes aren’t unusual, and it’s probably fair to say that one shouldn’t get overly sentimental, but of late, the pace of destruction does seem to have quickened. The...

Keep The ‘C’ Away From Artemi Panarin

from, Artemi Panarin does not want to be named captain of the New York Rangers, the 29-year-old forward told "Hockey in the Know" on Instagram. "It's not just putting a letter on the sweater and walking around taking pictures. It's a lot of rough work in the locker room. And it's not just about playing good hockey. You also have...

Study finds half of Americans get news on social media, but percentage has dropped

A new report from Pew Research finds that around a third of U.S. adults continue to get their news regularly from Facebook, though the exact percentage has slipped from 36% in 2020 to 31% in 2021. This drop reflects an overall slight decline in the number of Americans who say they get their news from any social media platform — a percentage that also fell by 5 percentage points year-over-year, going from 53% in 2020 to a little under 48%, Pew’s study found. By definition, “regularly” here means ...

The Flash Director Teases An Electric Team-Up With New Image

"The Flash" is on track to be a must-see movie, and not just because it's the first solo Flash film. No, I think we can all agree that the biggest draw of this movie will be the return of Michael Keaton as Batman, something we haven't seen since "Batman Returns" in 1992. "The Flash" will involve time travel and alternate dimensions, which explains why Keaton's Caped Crusader is suddenly showing up in the DCEU. Filming on "The Flash" is currently underway, and director Andy Muschietti took to Ins...
