Batgirl Star Leslie Grace Reveals First Look At Her Costume

Despite being introduced into the "Batman" comic book series all the way back in 1967 (technically 1961, but I'm talking Barbara Gordon here), Batgirl is finally making her way into the live-action DC Extended Universe, with Leslie Grace set to play the iconic character in an exclusive film for HBO Max. Not to be confused with Batwoman, the Batgirl character has appeared in multiple animated series and "The Lego Batman Movie," but this is our first bonafide chance to see a live-action Batgirl si...

The Script For The Batgirl Movie Has Been Completed

The "Batgirl" movie has gone through a lot of trials and tribulations. Joss Whedon used to be attached to a DC theatrical release about Barbara Gordon's superhero alias, but that fell to the wayside in 2018 when the writer-director stepped away from the project.WarnerMedia returned to "Batgirl" after Whedon's departure. This May, the company announced that it will be producing a straight-to-HBO Max feature directed by "Bad Boys For Life" directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah with a script pen...

Comment on marbled cheesecake hamantaschen by Barbara

In reply to deb. Thank you for your newest update! I noticed on Jake Cohen’s Instagram (where he referenced your tik tok and recipe) that his ingredient list is slightly different. He uses 2 sticks of butter, 2/3 cup granulated sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp kosher salt, 2 3/4 cups flour divided, and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Would any of these differences account for some dryness or cracking? I’m dying to try these hamantaschen but waiting to hear your thoughts. Also, there’s another way to close hama...

Keeping Up With the Kardashians gave America its real first family

Show that gave us Kim, Kylie and Kendall is ending after 14 years, leaving behind a Kardashianised world The first time the Kardashian family’s private life became part of the public conversation was not in their reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians (known as KUWTK), which turned them into global phenomena and will, it was announced this week, end after 14 years and 20 seasons. Nor was it with Kim Kardashian Superstar, the notorious sex tape of probably the best known member of the f...

This Week in Photography: Visiting Houston in #2020

Part 1. The Intro   I went to Houston six months ago. Went is the past tense of the verb to go. In Spanish, it’s ir, and in French, it’s aller. So I would say Je suis allé a Houston. Do you remember what it means to go places? To leave your home, or your town, and transport your body somewhere else, to a different city, or state, to a different culture, with a different landscape? Honestly, I kind of forget what the sensation feels like. Six months ago, I did something that was, at that point,...

Fantastic minimalist embroidery portraits of musicians, writers, and artists

My dear pal Barbara Rushkoff embroiders fantastic minimal portraits of musicians and other artists, writers, and thinkers whose work has inspired her over the years. I love the seeming simplicity of her illustrations that still beautifully convey the essence of her subjects! Also, the name of Barbara's Instagram account has me in, er, stitches: yr_resting_stitchface Above: Robert Smith of The Cure. George H.W. Bush 1924-2018

G EORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH, the 41st president of the United States, died on November 30 at age 94. As a leader produced by the greatest generation—a term coined by Tom Brokaw to mean those who lived during the Great Depression and then went on to fight in World War II—Bush lead with moral authority. A grounded and humble man, he understood that character matters in leaders. In 2012, he told Diane Sawyer in an interview that “I've been very blessed, when you look around, compared to ... oth...

Jenna Bush Hager Just Made A Major Statement About Gun Safety

Jenna Bush Hager — the daughter of former President George W. Bush — doesn't typically wade into politics.   Nobody likes a know-it-all. It’s the reason some people hated Barack Obama so much. (Including my own aunts and uncles.) Obama was so confident in his intelligence, so suave in his mojo, that he never really thought to mask either. Some people, insecure though they may be, find that sort of attitude arrogant, and the use of mental acumen as “professorial.” (Despite the fact that being a professor is a high-status job, the term is normally used as a pejorative.) Arsene Wenger, the legendary Ars...

Another day, another case of unauthorized sharing of someone else’s creative work and the ensuing drama that unfolds because of that. Lawyers: Bush Groping Allegations Would Be Hard To Prosecute

HOUSTON (AP) — Allegations that former President George H.W. Bush inappropriately touched six women involve potential crimes punishable by fines or jail time, if they had been prosecuted. All but one of the cases is ineligible under state laws that limit when a prosecution can begin after an alleged crime, and several lawyers interviewed said that it would be difficult to win a conviction against Bush, who has vascular parkinsonism, a rare syndrome that mimics Parkinson’s disease. “You’re still ...

This Week In Photography Books: Adger Cowans

by Jonathan Blaustein Over the last six years, I’ve become addicted to Arsenal Football Club, a soccer team that plays in London. It’s gotten so serious that I even write about the team, for fun, at 7am kickoff, a popular American-run Arsenal blog. It all started out innocently enough. After I sold a chunk of photographs, when “The Value of a Dollar,” took off, I was able to buy a nice television, and hook it up to Dish Network. Straight away, they piped in all this international soccer, (for f...

The Amazing Women of Berlin

And, quite ironically, that’s the part I f ind mos t exciting – the fact that I’ve slowly started to carve out my path as a writer. And I can’t complain about the lack of inspiration. As a matter of fact, Berlin is home to quite a lot of amazing, independent women who have a clear vision of themselves and work hard e...
