Why is your ex or their new partner ‘so happy’ on Instagram when they mistreated you?

Pre-internet and social media, to know what your ex or their current partner was up to, you had to become a stalker. You had to be prepared to nose around extensively in their lives, and this was a signpost for recognising obsession. The idea of following someone or making a nuisance out of yourself put a boundary in place. It either forced you to start grieving or left you relying on your imagination. And the latter in and of itself often became a signpost to start grieving too. Of course, ...

Badoo adds Live Video chat to its dating apps

European dating giant Badoo has added a live video chat feature to its apps, giving users the chance to talk face-to-face with matches from the comfort of their own home — and even before agreeing to go out on a first date. It’s claiming it’s the first dating app service to add a live video feature, though clearly major players in the space were not holding back because of the complexity of the technical challenge involved. Rather live video in a dating app context raises some immediate risk fla...

ONE OF MY FAVORITE BABY PRODUCTS: A BABY LOUNGER BED

Disclosure: I received The Baby Comfort lounger bed as a complimentary item for review, however all opinions express are 100% my own. Leave it to the power of social media to discover new and innovative products. With my first child I had no idea that there were commodities on the market such as co-sleepers or loungers. With my son, a friend gifted me a sleeper nest but I found it a bit rigid and intrusive for our, at the time, queen sized bed. Fast forward five years to my now third ...

Is solo travel compatible with love?

On January 4th , I met someone. It had been a long day. I’d checked out of my hostel in Phuket Town, power walked to the bus station in 30-degree heat, and arrived in Kata Beach hot, disgruntled, and in desperate need of a shower. Being shown to a tiny dorm room with no air con didn’t help my mood, but my roommate saw to that. Ten minutes into our first conversation, we decided to go to the beach and ended up spending the rest of the day together. One thing led to another, and six days later I ...

A Dating Fairytale: Hansel & Gretel in Berlin

photos: Felix Russell-Saw Sometimes I wonder if our generation is more obsessed with fairy tales than previous ones. Faced with a reality of the gig-economy, serial dating and an all too uncertain future, who can really blame us? And honestly, nothing prepares you for life in Berlin quite like a steady diet of stories about abandonment, witches and cute animals. The revelation that fairy tales are not real (for better or worse) is one of the milder let-downs of adult life. As grown-ups, we jus...
