Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has agreed for the first time to testify before Congress, as bipartisan anger mounts over harms to young people from the app. From a report: Mr. Mosseri is expected to appear before a Senate panel during the week of Dec. 6 as part of a series of hearings on protecting children online, said Senator Richard Blumenthal, who will lead the hearing. From Nets to Lakers, DeAndre Jordan ready to chase a championship again

The man best-positioned to turn up the heat in the NBA’s Cold War decided to hold off escalation – at least on his first day of work. After flipping coasts and NBA star-powered rosters, DeAndre Jordan asked how he’s getting along with Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving and his old teammates in Brooklyn these days. “We’re definitely not friends anymore,” he dead-panned, before laughing off the playful jab. Jordan, 33, isn’t looking to start drama as a new member of the Lakers, who officiall...

Desert X, an outdoor art festival shaped by COVID, kicks off Friday, March 12

Desert X, the expansive outdoor art biennial in the Coachella Valley opening Friday, March 12,  is one of the first large scale public California arts events to take place in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. And while the artworks that will be exhibited across a 40-mile stretch of Coachella Valley weren’t conceived in reaction to the global crisis, the two-month long public art event can’t ignore it either. “It’s not a show about the pandemic, but inevitably it is a show shaped by one...

Lakers owner Jeanie Buss reflects with pride on a long, strange, difficult season

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — There are times when Jeanie Buss peers down below her box through the plexiglass at the spaced-out seats near – but not too near – the AdventHealth Arena court and thinks of where she and the Lakers should be. She thinks of the season-ticket holders and the security guards and ushers she has known for years from her perch in Staples Center, a space near the home baseline in the first row of the lower bowl where she has held court for years. Some of that has been replicat...

How the Lakers are preparing for their chemistry to be tested

In the Lakers’ locker room, he was one of the loudest voices. So it made sense that even though his team hasn’t shared a locker room in nearly four months, Jared Dudley doesn’t think his role has changed. While the coronavirus pandemic has shut down basketball and much of the world, Dudley still connected. He texted. He tweeted. He added Instagram so he could check in with teammates more: see LeBron James’ beard sprout grays around the edges; see Kyle Kuzma’s home fashion shows. He also was amon...

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope shakes off bumpy start, finds perfect fit with Lakers

PHILADELPHIA — It was meant to be a putback. An easy shot. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope threw the ball back up toward the rim almost as quickly as he collected the rebound. Then, his heart sank as the ball stuck between the rim and the backboard – an unlikely result that added to his run of misfortune whenever he tried to do something that’s come naturally for so much of his life: score. This was not the plan. Feeling a special season ahead, Caldwell-Pope devoted more time than ever this offseason t...

Tension between Anthony Davis, Pelicans has created unrest throughout NBA

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — He hunched forward in his seat and wore his black hoodie draped over his head. On the court, Anthony Davis is imposing. Off it, the flat timbre of his voice comes off almost as meek. But the 25-year-old, 6-foot-10 forward is at the center of a seismic grinding of powerful forces that has left much of the NBA restless. And he only added to the tension as he spoke throughout a 25-minute session on Saturday morning. He said he does indeed have a list of franchises he would like hi...

Can the Lakers recover if they don’t trade for Anthony Davis?

BOSTON — He does the things everyone says to do. He focuses on his work, on practice and film. He answers questions about trade talks politely, but with time-worn cliches. He’s not thinking about the trade deadline, he says, he’s thinking about basketball. But Kyle Kuzma has a phone. That is enough for anyone on the Lakers these days to be swallowed up in the latest report or rumor, whatever it may be. 6 Celeb-Approved Nude Nail Polishes For Dark Skin

Nude nail polish is my personal arch nemesis. The Real Meaning Behind Your Favorite Celebrity Tattoos

It's easy to become infatuated with celebrity tattoos. Whether you have one or not, there's enough Instagram inspiration from famous artists like Dr. Woo and New York's JonBoy to turn anyone into a fan of body art — especially when it's inked on Hollywood's elite. But unfortunately, sometimes stars like to keep the meaning of their most personal tattoos on the low, providing an evasive, almost nonexistent explanation behind the design. For the most part, people leave the inspo up to speculation....

Hair Checks, Jiggle Tests, & Gaslighting — Is Pro Cheerleading Worth Saving?

Before Nicole’s* first practice as a rookie NHL pro cheerleader, she was issued a photo of Gabrielle Union from around 2010 and told that it would be her look for the season.
