May 2019 Update for Lightroom Classic, Lightroom, and Adobe Camera Raw

Today, Adobe has released an update for the Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw family of applications. Before getting into the new features that have been added, it is important to note that Adobe has dropped the “CC” from the names of Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom CC. This is because all versions of Lightroom are now only available via a Creative Cloud subscription, so there is no need to differentiate the CC version from the perpetual license version. One could make the case that having the “...

August 2018 Updates to Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC

Lightroom Classic 7.5 and Lightroom CC 1.5 for Mac and PC started rolling out to Creative Cloud subscribers last night and should be coming to a CC application manager near you (if it’s not there already). This update brings the usual new camera support (and bug fixes), but due to the nature of the subscription model we’re also being provided with new features to enhance the Classic and CC experience. This round of updates features heavily in the Book module for Classic, but there are a couple o...

Lightroom Classic 7.4 Update

The June update to Lightroom Classic (7.4) is out, and here are the things you should know: Disable Preset Rollover The April update to Lightroom Classic (7.3) included a new feature for displaying a live preview of your Develop presets that some people loved, and others, well, not so much. The problem for some people was that the rollover preview in Loupe view was a little too resource intensive, or it was distracting to how they were used to using presets. A new preference checkbox was added...

Lightroom Classic 7.3.1 Update

You may not have noticed, but Adobe released an update to Lightroom Classic yesterday to address a few urgent bugs that needed squashing. If you don’t see the update in your application manager, click the 3 dot menu and choose Check for App Updates. You should then see this next to Classic: Preset Issues I’ve installed the update, and so far so good. One of the issues this update fixes is the fact that our presets were not sorting correctly within the preset folders of the Presets panel. Thi...

Rolling Back to a Previous Version of Lightroom Classic

Maybe the latest update is causing you a problem, or maybe you just want to try a test, or maybe some third-party plug-in isn’t working with the current version? If you have a good reason to roll back to an earlier version, it is a very easy thing to do thanks to the Creative Cloud Application Manager. Note, I’ve been following the reports of crashes and preset problems related to the 7.3 update, and have seen multiple people ask for a way to go back to Lightroom 7.2, at least until the problems...
