R&D Roundup: Tech giants unveil breakthroughs at computer vision summit

Computer vision summit CVPR has just (virtually) taken place, and like other CV-focused conferences, there are quite a few interesting papers. More than I could possibly write up individually, in fact, so I’ve collected the most promising ones from major companies here. Facebook, Google, Amazon and Microsoft all shared papers at the conference — and others too, I’m sure — but I’m sticking to the big hitters for this column. (If you’re interested in the papers deemed most meritorious ...

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' net worth just reached a new high of $171.6 billion. Bezos founded Amazon in 1995. The company has since grown to one of the most valuable, powerful companies on the planet. Bezos has gone from a New York hedge-funder to the richest man in the world, but in the process, he's weathered a high-profile divorce and hacking scandal, faced antitrust scrutiny from lawmakers, and everything in between.  These days, Bezos is focused on making Amazon more climate-friendly, growing...

Elon Musk called Jeff Bezos a copycat — again — over Amazon's Zoox acquisition. Here are 9 other rivalries that have formed between some of the world's biggest tech CEOs.

While there are many close friendships among tech CEOs in Silicon Valley, there are plenty of feuds, too.  Some appear to be friendly rivalries — like Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison — but others have become more contentious.  Tim Cook and Mark Zuckerberg, for example, have been openly feuding for years, while Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have made digs at each other over outer space.  Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.
