Gavin Newsom on Friday issued nine pardons and commuted the life sentence of a woman convicted of killing her stepfather in the Bay Area in 1989, making her immediately eligible for release on parole. $1,400 stimulus payments begin landing in bank accounts

Just a day after President Joe Biden signed a stimulus relief package into law, the latest round of economic impact payments began landing in bank accounts with a pending date of March 17. The $1,400 payments are part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, which includes more than $410 billion of payments for most Americans.
