Months after aborted flight, U.S.-Russian crew makes smooth trip to space station

NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin finally made it to the International Space Station today, five months after their first trip went awry. The two spacefliers were due to join the station’s crew last October, but as they were ascending from Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, one of their Soyuz rocket’s side boosters knocked into the main core, causing a rare abort and activation of the Soyuz capsule’s escape system. The capsule was thrown clear of the rocket...

Watch the crew of 2018’s failed Soyuz launch blast off again live right here

When Astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin were last strapped into a Russian-made Soyuz spacecraft in late 2018, things didn't exactly go as planned. A last-second abort sent the pair careening back towards Earth, which is obviously not where they intended to end up. Today, they'll get a second chance. Both Hague and Ovchinin will once again be perched atop a Russian rocket as it speeds into space, and this time they'll be joined by Hague's colleague, fellow NASA astr...

Russian space rocket lifts off with astronauts who survived rocket failure

A Russian-made Soyuz rocket lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Thursday, carrying three astronauts into space, two of whom survived a mid-air rocket failure in October. The Soyuz MS-12 took off at 1914 GMT, as planned, and is due to bring Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin and U.S. astronauts Nick Hague and Christina Koch to the International Space Station around eight hours later. For Ovchinin and Hague, it is the first flight since an emergency landing two minutes after ...

Crew of last year’s failed Soyuz rocket will try again tomorrow

It seems like only yesterday the world watched as a Russian Soyuz rocket experienced a last-second launch abort that sent NASA astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin careening back down to Earth. Both men survived the ordeal with little more than rattled nerves and now, five months later, they're ready to try again. The launch has been schedule for Thursday, March 14th, at 3:14 p.m. EDT, and the two men who had their plans for a trip to the International Space Station cut abruptly...
