Scottish Adventure: First Class

Our last day in Scotland always get me down. Add that to the fact that I am not the most comfortable flier and I get a wee bit grumpy on travel days. George might say “grumpier” as he thinks I’m a grump most days. Edinburgh was only a short drive from our rental but I get a little anxious about getting to the airport early, way too early for George but over the years he has graciously acquiesced to my… Continue Reading →

Why is the California Legislature targeting bike share and scooter programs?

California has been at the forefront of the shared micromobility movement and transportation innovation for years – yet the California State legislature is considering a bill as soon as next week that has the potential to destroy micromobility in the state entirely. Today, micromobility devices like bikes and scooters offer a mode of transportation that are essential to people across the state, from commuters to our most vulnerable and underserved communities. They replace tens of millions of ca...

Want more sidespin on Pendulum serve

Hi Coach, For some time I have been trying to do sidespin(pendulum) serve. I noticed that when try to contact the ball on the side, contact the lower area of the bat, use a lot of wrist, and have arm acceleration, I get little sidespin and sometimes good heavy backspin. I'm only looking for a good sidespin serve that bounces off my opponents racket when their racket is flat with no angle. Is there a way to fix this spin issue?

Angels’ Mike Trout working on his defense, thanks to Twitter

Mike Trout’s outfield reads became somewhat of a trending topic among baseball fans and media on Twitter last Friday. Among those who were paying attention: Trout himself. According to MLB’s Statcast technology, Trout’s “jump” on balls hit to the outfield ranks among the bottom 1 percent of outfielders. Statcast divides “jump” into three components: reaction (feet covered in the first 1.5 seconds after a ball is hit), burst (feet covered from 1.6 to 3 seconds after a ball is hit), and route (how...

Inconsistent Serving

Hi coach! Whenever I try to execute the Ma Lin ghost serve when no one is around it is very spinny. When I play in front of my opponent, the serve is 50% less spinny and sometimes doesn't make it over the net because I'm very nervous. Is there a way to fix this problem?

How Dodgers pitcher Ross Stripling topped the baseball podcast empire

Cooper Surles was sitting in his company’s break room when it happened. A couple guys started talking about the biggest sports topic in town: Joe Kelly dissing the Astros.
