Kyle Kuzma, Alex Caruso have built defensive confidence after Lakers’ first-round win

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Kyle Kuzma rang in his first career playoff series win with a glass of wine during Sunday’s early morning hours. The 4-1 series win over the Portland Trail Blazers wasn’t just the sweet cap of an especially long and tense week in the NBA bubble, but also a marker of how he can impact a series. The conversation about the third-year forward this whole season is if he can step back and be the team’s third star — a narrative that LeBron James himself has advanced as well — b...

Have the 1st Shots Been Fired in the Next American Civil War?

Have the 1st Shots Been Fired in the Next American Civil War? USA –  -(AmmoLand.com)- Is the new American Civil War here? For the last couple of years, I have been saying that we have been in a “cold civil war,” but it seems like it is becoming a hot war. On my old podcast (Patriot News), I predicted the next Civil War would start with small scale skirmishes around the cities and then would spread out to the suburbs and finally to the rural areas. These events are what we are seeing around th...

Rams deal with injuries to Darrell Henderson, Taylor Rapp, Travin Howard

Darrell Henderson won’t play. Cooper Kupp will. That’s the best guess about two important players’ chances of being ready for the Rams’ season-opening game in less than two weeks after hearing coach Sean McVay’s injury updates Monday. The Rams’ health issues this month have been nothing like what people feared when NFL teams went to training camp amid risks of COVID-19 outbreaks and injuries caused by unusual practice schedules. But injuries to Henderson (hamstring), linebacker Travin Howard (kn...

Don’t allow police reform to slip out of our hands

Over the last few months, Americans across the country and across the political spectrum have rightly demanded reforms to policing. In order for this to be achieved, we need a coolheaded, constructive approach. Vandalism, violence and physical confrontations only detract from the serious and important work to turn legitimate outrage into tangible solutions. In one sadly ironic incident over the past week, protesters surrounded Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, last Thursday and, amid shoving, repeated...

Hair salons, barbershops nervously await L.A. County’s word on indoor clientele

Appointments were promptly secured — starting this week. All told, she logged 64 texts as the afternoon wore on, a good sign for a businesswoman whose shop was hit hard by the pandemic. Peggy Christensen is an independent rental property owner in California who relies on her rental income in retirement. She owns a small, eight-unit apartment building.
