No Fish At The Jetty Tonight

Ice has come to Mille Lacs. I think it was locked up last night.  I didn't test the ice, but somebody had thrown a big rock out at the North Corner.  Open Water Season for me officially ended Nov. 28th. Not bad.  [Author: [email protected] (Basspastor)]

Rams, Jared Goff hope to heat up again in Arizona desert

THOUSAND OAKS — If Jared Goff needs to get back into a comfort zone right now, he’s going to the right place. Glendale, Ariz., where the Rams face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, has been the site of three consecutive Rams victories since Goff entered the league. The Rams are 6-0 against the Cardinals since Goff and Coach Sean McVay teamed up. The offense in those six games has been (when’s the last time you heard this?) consistent, the Rams scoring 30-plus points every time. Goff against Arizo...

Dodgers acquire reliever Corey Knebel in trade with Brewers

LOS ANGELES — It is almost an annual tradition for the Dodgers to take a flyer on a reclamation project in their bullpen. And often those gambles involve former All-Star closers. They acquired right-hander Corey Knebel from the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday to fill that role for 2021. The Brewers had planned to non-tender Knebel, making him a free agent, but instead traded him to the Dodgers just before the deadline in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. A first-roun...

Fears of more COVID-19 spread as thousands of L.A. County inmates await transfer to state prisons

The number of inmates in Los Angeles County’s jails is climbing and officials are worried overcrowding is leading to more dangerous conditions just as sweeps the region. Sheriff’s Department officials said Wednesday that state prisons stopped accepting new transfers of inmates from county jails on Nov. 26 as they try to stem an overwhelming spike in COVID-19 cases. In just the last two weeks, at least 3,101 inmates in state prisons have tested positive, according to the California Department o...

Dodgers sign Scott Alexander, tender contract offers to 6 arbitration-eligible players

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers reached a one-year contract agreement with left-hander Scott Alexander, avoiding arbitration and eliminating their most likely candidate to be non-tendered at Wednesday’s deadline. In the wake of the financial challenges created by the pandemic, teams were expected to non-tender more players this year, making them free agents rather than take on the salary increases that usually come with arbitration. But the Dodgers tendered contracts to all of their arbitration-eligib...

California a first-time homebuyer’s nightmare

How hard is it for a first-time house hunter to succeed in the Golden State? The rule will be in place until Dec. 20, according to a city news release. The move was met with some confusion from Pasadena restaurant owners who weren’t sure how this would really be enforceable. “It’s moot, really,” said Frank Gale, owner of Russell’s, a restaurant in Pasadena. “How do you ...
