Reaction mixed on idea that LA County’s elementary schools can reopen within weeks

District officials throughout Los Angeles County offered up a mixture of guarded optimism and skepticism on Thursday, Jan. 28, in response to the idea that elementary schools may start to reopen in a few weeks if COVID-19 cases continue falling at its current pace. Despite remarks by county Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer one day earlier that elementary classrooms could begin reopening within a month if everyone does their part to ensure coronavirus transmission rates keep dropping, the qu...

Bob Baffert, one of three finalists, wasn’t named top trainer of 2020 during Thursday’s 50th Eclipse Awards ceremony, but three of his horses were honored on a night when the event was presented virtually because of COVID-19. Quick Recap- Wings/Stars

I am not being lazy here but before Detroit's goal, it was same old, same old. Power play looking as bad as ever and Wings are still offensively challenged With just about 8 minutes to play in the 2nd period, Valtteri Filppula scored on Detroit's 8th shot of the night and made the score 2-1 Dallas. Less than 3 minutes later, Dallas scores to make it 3-1. The Stars took a 4-1 lead into the 3rd but Tyler Bertuzzi made it 4-2 on the power play and it starts to cross our minds, com...

State’s choice of Blue Shield to take over vaccine distribution spurs questions

This week’s announcement that Healthcare giant Blue Shield of California had been tapped to take over the state’s much-criticized coronavirus vaccination rollout took many by surprise, and prompted concerns among some about equitable distribution to hard-hit communities. Los Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez had to do a doubletake just hours after she and her colleagues left a meeting with county Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer. “Within a couple of hours the news came that Blue Sh...

Here’s Hoping

The Wings were at least watchable in their last game against the Stars. Although it did end in the OT loss, the 19 hung in there and toughed it out, and, the team didn't make us leave before the final buzzer. Here's hoping they have a better game tonight, and, at the very least, enough effort and energy to keep us engaged. It's a Live Blog!

Video- A Good And Possibly Bad Day For Moritz Seider

Thanks to The Malik Report for the pointer.   One of Moritz Seider's best games of the SHL season ends with a hard crash into the boards and a slow walk out to the dressing room. Seider managed 2 goals, 1 assist, 4 SOG and +2 in almost 22 minutes of icetime. In his last 10 games, Seider has 11 points and a +9 rating. — IcehockeyGifs (@IcehockeyG) January 28, 2021

Dan Craig returns to Miami for first time as part of Clippers’ coaching staff

Dan Craig took his talents from Miami to L.A. this past offseason. He was lured, reportedly, from his NBA home of 17 seasons by more money and the challenge of competing for a championship in one of the NBA’s biggest markets, a step that certainly could bolster one’s head coaching ambitions. On Thursday, Craig was back in AmericanAirlines Arena for the first time since joining Tyronn Lue’s Clippers coaching staff, a return tempered by the stringent coronavirus protocols in place. “We texted yest...
