Wrong Call Made But A Bit Late For The Columbus Blue Jackets

from Sportsnet, Patrik Laine didn't shy away from expressing his displeasure after Sunday's loss against the Carolina Hurricanes -- and it had nothing to do with his new city, his teammates or the dynamic with head coach John Tortorella. His ire stemmed from a refereeing error. Prior to a Vincent Trocheck goal at 18:45 of the second period, which gave Carolina a 4-3 lead, Columbus requested a coach's challenge for an off-side call. The NHL said after the game the challenge...

Review: The Weeknd is solid, not super at Super Bowl LV

The Weeknd turned in a bizarre, but mostly enjoyable, high-concept mini-concert during the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Appearing first before our eyes as the driver in a two-seater sports car, parked in front of a Vegas-like backdrop, the 30-year-old Toronto talent — born Abel Tesfaye — then stepped out of the car and took a seat at the edge of the stage. The camera pans back and we realize the edge of the stage was actually the top of the stage — and...

60 years ago, ‘Grandpa’ stole a pair of police handcuffs. Here’s why he just gave it back

As a teenager more than 60 years ago, a Van Nuys native stole a pair of handcuffs from the LAPD. Now, as a 74-year-old “grandpa,” he has returned the cuffs, along with an apology and a $100 donation to the police. The inspiration for that mea culpa? His two young grandsons. The boys were “aghast” when he told them the story of how he got the handcuffs, he said. The Vista resident, who police said did not want to be identified, relayed his tale in a letter to the department, which tweeted it out....

from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News, The victory ended an eight-game winless streak for the Wings (3-8-2), who hadn’t won since Jan. 19, defeating Columbus in overtime. "Losing is never fun," Fabbri said. "We made some steps last game against Tampa and we carried that over into tonight right off the hop.
