Parents turn to pods for distant learning

A distance learning school schedule isn’t easy to keep up with, specifically for young students, and especially for parents. Some families are relying on each other for help by forming learning pods, while other families are looking for services to watch over their students. Vaughn Mims, a father of two teenage boys, has turned an athletic facility in Chatsworth into a distant learning daycare, a mega learning pod so to speak. 1st Place Sports Complex is a 20,000-square foot venue that is normal...

Restaurants: One-dish wonders amaze in Glendale, Encino

Like many hungry locals, I’ve tried to find cheer during this Summer of Quarantine and Isolation with the joy of dishes that make me a happy camper — and a well-fed one, too. Some of those dishes, well-suited for takeout, are served by restaurants with a commitment to a singular dish. In some cases, it’s the only dish they make. In others, it’s the dish for which they’re most famous. And justly so! If you’ve ever been to Singapore, a place every good eater should visit at least once in their lif...
