Skied at Winter Park on March 15, 2019

I was lucky enough to have a mid-day visit on Friday to Winter Park after a huge storm on Wednesday. It was a beautiful sunny day and around 1:00 PM I pulled into Winter Park’s free parking lot and was able to find an open parking spot. After walking past the Moffat Tunnel I was greeted by zero crowds and zero lines. My luck had just begun. View of Vasquez at Winter Park from the lift I made my way up the gondola and wandered towards the Vasquez territory. I enjoy the bumps and ...

Touring the Best Luxury Resorts in Cabo

Here at Luxury Latin America, we've been covering the best of the best hotels and resorts in Cabo since our inception in 2007. Back when we started it wasn't hard to keep track of the top Los Cabos luxury hotels because there weren't all that many of them. The Los Cabos Tourism Board, until very recently, made their luxury advertising decisions based on how the general managers at just four resorts decided how to distribute funds. Cabo is a different place now, and it's going to continue evolv...

Best places to travel in May

We’ve finally reached the light at the end of the winter tunnel. Daylight savings is over and the sun is shining, and all is right with the world. No? Still not in full-on summer mode yet? Well, that’s ok — May is a mere two months away, bringing with it the unofficial start of summer at Memorial Day. It also brings music festivals, barbecue festivals, and even a camel-riding festival. Plus Cinco de Mayo and the general relief that we don’t have to think about winter again until football is b...

Here is how some in the San Fernando Valley celebrated Pi Day

Sure, Pi Day may be all about a particular mathematics ratio. But for many San Fernando Valley residents, Thursday, March 14 — also known as “3.14” — was simply a great day to dig in to a slice of pie. Or a few. The Four ‘n 20 restaurants were among the eateries who rolled out the crust and poured in the filling on Thursday. Owner David Burkin said his two restaurants made more than 400 pies for the event. Four ‘n 20 shows off some of the many pies that are to be made Thursday during Nationa...

Southern California thieves are targeting cars for parts like seats and catalytic converters — but there are ways to deter them

One or more thieves crawled under Andrew Olewicz’s Prius as he was fast asleep on the evening of Sept. 26. It was parked on the street in front of his house in Costa Mesa, so he didn’t hear a thing as someone used a saw to cut out his car’s catalytic converter. However, the god-awful noise made by the typically silent-running vehicle the next morning didn’t go unnoticed as he began an hour-long commute to San Diego. The same goes for the $500 insurance deductible he paid to get the car fixed, as...

OK, so maybe the Players Championship isn't an official major. It does certainly come with a major reward for all those competing this week at TPC Sawgrass. Thiem topples 'legend' Federer to win Indian Wells title

Dominic Thiem claimed his first Masters 1000 title after coming from a set down to defeat Roger Federer 3-6 6-3 7-5 and win the BNP Paribas Open on Sunday in Indian Wells. Momentum swung in Thiem's favor in the deciding set when he smacked a forehand winner down the line to break Federer and take a 6-5 lead. The Austrian fell on his back and covered his face with his hands when Federer, who had been bidding for a record sixth Indian Wells title and 101st tournament victory, netted on match ...

Players Championship 2019: Rory McIlroy on slow play: 'It's become somewhat of an epidemic'

Rory McIlroy is one of the fastest players on the PGA Tour, which makes the issue of slow play out here all the more befuddling. If playing fast works for McIlroy, who has only won four majors and amassed more than $43 million in career earnings, why can't everybody else follow suit and pick up the pace? The always-outspoken Northern Irishman feels the same way, and he said as much on Friday night at TPC Sawgrass.

Players Championship 2019: Jim Furyk becomes first flagstick putting victim under new rule (Or did he?)

Does leaving in the flagstick on putts help or hurt you? It's a question that has produced numerous studies with mixed findings, and just last week, Francesco Molinari became the first player to sink a putt to win a PGA Tour event with the flagstick in. After finding the front of the infamous island green, Furyk rapped a long birdie attempt that hit squarely in the center of the flagstick and somehow stayed out of the cup.

Players Championship 2019: Tiger Woods playfully mocks Kevin Na on 17, both get a huge kick out of it

Playing with Tiger Woods is a memorable experience for any golfer, but Kevin Na can now claim to have been mocked by the 14-time major champ during a round. The Woods-Na pairing got off to a brutal start during Saturday's third round at the 2019 Players Championship with Woods dusting his playing partner by four shots despite carding a disappointing 39. Things got better on the back nine, though, and after Na made eagle to Tiger's birdie on No. 16, both hit fantastic shots on the par-3...

Players Championship 2019: Tiger Woods says he didn't know of potential drop option in second round

Tiger Woods struggled on Saturday at the Players Championship, carding an even-par 72 as he battled with a balky putter on the front nine. Had Woods known, he could have played his third shot from the walkway that leads to the island green, rather than from the drop area, which is 80 yards away. With the back pin on Friday, that's as tricky a shot as it gets, and Woods proved it by depositing a second ball in the water after his original tee shot had found the water.
