Washington Post reporter Ellen Nakashima writes late Monday night, "The State Department and NIH join list of federal agencies — now five — hacked in major Russian cyberespionage campaign. ‘Why are minorities in STEM so easily offended?’ And other stupid questions answered

Fair warning: This is an opinion piece. I was one of the background people arguing on Twitter over the weekend.  Last Friday I had the distinct privilege of engaging with a legend in the computer science world. Saying I’m a fan of their work is a massive understatement. In fact, if you were to Google this person’s name and then select the “news” tab, you wouldn’t have to scroll far to come across several articles I’ve written with reverent references to them. You know what they say: Never meet y...

What’s In a Name? Be Mindful For Duplicates When Running Background Checks

Back in law school, I submitted a letter and resume for a summer internship at a Chicago lawfirm.  (We did this via letters back then. Ask your parents.) But alas, I was quick to realize something was amiss. The letter was addressed to a Daniel  J. Schwartz and referenced Northwestern University; I was at Washington University in St...
