"Get Books" Doesn't Find Books

In Calibre 5.19 (64 bit) on Windows 10 Pro (64 bit), Get Books doesn't necessarily find books where I know they exist. For instance, I just tried looking for a title of "project hail mary" (no quotes) by author "weir" (no quotes). Earlier today, the only match that showed up was for Google. I tried it again just now and at least Amazon is getting a match. But, nowhere else. Here are the existing product pages on: Amazon ebooks Kobo All three of those sites are configured and checked in ...

High-profile investors in India have long aggressively chased growth-stage, and late-stage deals, pouring record amounts of capital into the country. But in a sign of the growing investor bullishness regarding Indian startups, even early-stage companies that have largely been bereft of much similar attenti...

Google Chrome Will Require Law Firms to Clean Up Embarrassing RSS Feeds

As I blogged a couple weeks ago, Google is making a strong statement in favor of blogs, RSS and open publishing, by adding RSS to its Chrome browser.Users will be able to hit an RSS link built into the browser in order to see all future updates from the site. A slick feature for law firm blogs, of which there are many, and legal news from law firm websites, of which there is a lot of. A lot of law firms don’t know what RSS is though. As I wrote ten days ago, law firms aren’t operating websites ...

Apple Employees Asked to Return to Offices for Three Days a Week Starting in September

Apple corporate employees will be returning to the office for three days a week starting in early September, Apple CEO Tim Cook told workers today in a memo that was seen by The Verge. Tinder tested group video chat ahead of Match’s move into social discovery with Hyperconnect deal

As dating app Tinder and its parent company Match explore the future of personal connection through apps, it’s interesting to see what sort of ideas it tested but later discarded. One such experiment was something called “Tinder Mixer,” which had briefly offered Tinder users a way to join group video chats, and “play games” with others nearby. The feature was tested for a short period of time last year in New Zealand, we understand, but will not be launching. The Tinder Mixer experience was unco...

‘The Mosquito Coast’ Renewed for Second Season by Apple TV+

The Mosquito Coast, the Apple TV+ series based on the book by Paul Theroux, is getting a second season. The show stars Justin Theroux and Melissa George and follows a family on the run from the United States government. The book was previously adapted into a 1986 movie starring Harrison Ford. Having not watched the show yet, I’m not entirely sure how they’re getting more than one season out of one book, but I’ll let the folks running the show worry about that. Apple TV+ revealed the news tod...
