Getting the Help I Didn’t Know I Needed in Paris With Monograms

When I was 17 years old, I boarded an Air France flight for my first trip outside of the US. It was also only the 3rd time I’d been on a plane and I couldn’t wait for my summer as an exchange student in Paris to get started. Although I did indeed suffer from some fairly intense homesickness, by the end of my time in Paris I was smitten. I had fallen in love not only with the city but with traveling in general; it truly was a trip that influenced the rest of my life. Although I’ve been to ne...

Elegant

While in Lourmarin we ate at a place new to us. Only a few restaurants were open this being December, but this one turned out to be very good. It was called Cafe de l’Ormeau and it had a plain exterior so I was surprised by its interior, elegant and refined with white cloth table cloths and napkins. Isn’t this nice? I liked this light too. A huge beautiful mirror graced one wall. Our lunch was very good. Maurice finished his with a Ile Flottante.

Travel blog by Travels of Adam (Hipster Blog) – Travels of Adam (Hipster Blog) - Since moving to New York state last year, I’ve made a lot of effort to become a part of my local community. Whenever you move to a new place, there’s a whole checklist of things to do—everything from registering to vote to getting the proper identification cards, finding an apartment, making friends, and getting to know your neighborhood. But as a serial expat and frequent re-locator, I think it’s also importan...

While On International Travel, Always Transact In Local Currency

While I’m currently traveling in Spain, every time I buy something, I’m asked whether I’d like to transact in Euros or U.S. dollars. This happens when I buy tickets to attractions online, on the credit card terminals at supermarkets, and on ATMs when I withdraw cash. Every. Single. Time. Here’s an example when I was buying tickets to an attraction: They are trying to catch people who don’t know what the going exchange rate is. The going exchange rate is 1 Euro = 1.11 U.S. dollars,...
