Lisbon Photo Highlights

I just returned from my first visit to Portugal and the trip was so amazing that I know it’ll take me many posts to properly share what the experience was like. Before I start sharing those stories though, I want to first publish some of my favorite photos from the start of my trip in Lisbon. Prior to joining my Viking river cruise along the Douro, I arrived a little early to explore even more of Lisbon. Graced with some incredible weather, I very quickly fell in love with this quirky capital ci...

What is Coquito and how to make it

There’s something to be said for the fact that I can’t pinpoint a specific moment in which Coquito started to appear in my life. The drink was always there, a constant throughout the years. As a kid, I would open my refrigerator around the holiday season and see various containers like mason jars, water bottles, and milk jugs, full of Coquito. I was always curious about it, wondering what it tasted like and why it suddenly appeared around a specific time, but I was never allowed to have a cup...

Tips for Traveling to Canada in the Winter

Traveling to Canada in the Winter – There’s a reason Canada is known as the Great White North, and it’s not because it’s a tropical paradise. Sleigh Me! Tiramisu Yule Log

This tiramisu yule log is all your Christmas and tiramisu dreams come true! It's the combination of one of my favourite desserts, tiramisu with a very Christmassy dessert, a yule log. There's no raw egg in this but it tastes just like a traditional tiramisu with marsala, coffee, sponge and creamy billows of mascarpone cream! I called her Holly.

The best winter activities in Banff

In the social circles of powderhounds around the world, Banff and Lake Louise are discussed with near-religious reverence. The Canadian Rockies are collectively a world-renowned ski destination, and the Ski Big 3 ski resorts in Banff National Park — Lake Louise Ski Resort, Banff Sunshine Village, and Mt. Norquay — are in a league of their own and have the devout fan base to prove it. But the snow dumped here every winter is manna from heaven for more than just powderhounds. There are many way...

Licence to Kill

I don’t usually include Bond films in the year-based movie marathons I do (since I tend to marathon Bond films separately), but I made an exception this time because I was in the mood to watch one, and since I’m going through 1989, Licence to Kill was a good candidate. It isn’t one of my favorite 007 films, but I do like Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights definitely is one of my favorites), and it does have its moments, with a pretty great cast. Using a drug lord as a Bond villain is jus...

First Renderings Of The New American Airlines Philadelphia Flagship Lounge

I like the bar and buffet areas more in these renderings than I do American's other Flagship lounges. It strikes me that wall the main lounge area design is straight from the pallet of the other lounges, the dining room is darker and a bit more modern. In some ways it feels more like a Cathay Pacific lounge in those areas. This could be their most attractive Flagship lounge.
