Italy Revisited-Next Stop Calitri

After my week in Lucca last spring we spent a few days in Rome and then took the train across the country and south to Calitri (birthplace of my grandparents). You can’t actually take the train there, which we found out on our first visit. We discovered that what we thought were train tickets ended […]

How Do I Handle Fear of Flying?

From a young woman in the U.S.: I have been avoiding taking a flight back home. I am from Puerto Rico and I am currently in Michigan studying my doctorate. I would like to visit my family, but since May 2019 I have not traveled again because it causes me a lot of anxiety when I am up there. The last time I traveled to Puerto Rico I felt that my heart was beating very fast and I was sweating throughout the flight. I try to play music or a movie to avoid thinking that I am flying, but still I cann...

A Love Letter to my Kriega US-30 Drypack

Over the course of your riding life you will buy things for your motorcycle that are kind of shrug-worthy. They’re like wallpaper – just something that exists in the background to do a job but you don’t pay it much mind. Every once in a while though, something comes along and consistently proves it’s worth … Read More Read More The post A Love Letter to my Kriega US-30 Drypack appeared first on Girlie Motorcycle Blog.

Lockdown in Paris: Day 35

One of the more charming corners of the 13th arrondissement...and wisteria, bien sûr.  Bonjour to a warm and sunny Saturday morning in Paris! Yesterday I was talking to my friend who lives a block from me about a mystery building she could see from her 14th floor apartment but couldn’t identify. With views over all of Paris, she can easily spot the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Val de Grace, and even the Opéra Garnier. But now that we’re all spending more time than usual looking at nothing but the...

Zucchini and Goat Cheese Tart - Day 34 of Confinement

As life has thrown us all a curve ball and we're advised to stay inside as much as possible, I'm heeding that advice. With that, I'm being extra conscious about not wasting food (something I will definitely be better at in the future!) and being creative with what has been lurking in my kitchen cupboards. I also, like so many others, have a lot of time on my hands to cook. It's rare that I follow a recipe to the letter. When I cook I feel pretty comfortable swapping a minor ingredient or two if...

Wild orchids couldn't drag it out of me

Wild orchids grow all around us here. We have some in our "lawn," but they get mowed down after their initial spring bloom. These, however, grow out in a field next to the vineyard parcels. The field only gets mowed in late summer, if at all, so the orchids grow and bloom naturally. Wild orchids in the grass, no more than a few inches tall. We had a thunderstorm on Friday night. Just around sunset I could hear the low rumble of thunder in the distance. Ken looked at the radar on the internet a...

Promoting Your Hotel Brand in a Socially Distanced World | By Larry Mogelonsky

The virus outbreak that started in Wuhan and spread around the globe will eventually end and worldwide travel will resume. However, the fear and new social patterns might linger for quite some time after that in what could best be described as 'post coronavirus stress disorder' (PCSD). Such a mass behavioral shift dictates that hospitality will need to adapt yet again to meet any demand changes.
