what i'm reading: all my puny sorrows by miriam toews

I've just finished reading All My Puny Sorrows, the haunting, heartbreaking, hilarious, and life-affirming 2014 novel by Miriam Toews. It's difficult for me to write about fiction. I don't like to describe plots, because for my own reading, I hate knowing plots in advance. I really enjoy letting the story unfold the way the writer intended. So I generally end up writing about themes -- which for many readers is not at all helpful. All My Puny Sorrows is about the family love, especially the bon...

With both the U.S. CDC and World Health Orginization warning that SARS-Cov-2 may be transmitted by airborne aerosols, Canada is once again a day late and a dollar short with our response.  Do note that there is no definitive proof that SARS-Cov-2, the virus that causes the Covid-19 diseases, is airborne, this is just another transmission vector that many health authorities around the world believe leads to the spread.  The CBC just published a story on it:

Breach of the Nuremberg Code on a mass scale by lockdowns IS definitely a crime against humanity

The breach of the Nuremberg Code on such a large scale that the lockdowns do is, in my view,  LEGALLY a crime against humanity. Here is the proof. All legal documents should probably start including this now, since the matter will probably need to go to the ICC in the future. The “intent” is clear […]

Twitter makes it harder to amplify content ahead of US elections

In the steps to safeguard the US elections, Twitter announced a series of steps aimed at crating friction in amplification of viral misinformation. As a result, across the world, it will prompt users to “Quote Tweet” instead of “Retweet” so that amplification via retweets reduces, in a probable bid to combat bot-led amplification of content. Across the world, Twitter will no longer recommend tweets that are “liked by” from people users don’t follow. In the US, it will only show trending topics ...

Funky feline fotos

It's been a while. Bert is well, although we did have an episode of him throwing up something in the house and a few episodes of poop indoors (he won't use his litter box). He is fourteen years old after all, so I expect some "senior" moments from time to time. I caught Bert stalking some critter in the grass out by the pond on Thursday morning. Since Callie died, Bert has been able to spend more time indoors. He gets along well with Tasha, so there is no longer a dog/cat conflict. Last year w...
