My Cousin Julie

Yesterday, I received again devastating news about my cousin Julie, Sacha's Buddhamere. If I wasn't so sad I would have had time to feel downright mad at the God I call Love. I know Love has no bounds and that God can take my anger with a grain of salt. Some hit pillows I have a good go at God, it helps to be able to dump it somewhere and not be judged but restored. My cousin suffered several subarachnoid hemorrhages. The outlook wasn't promising she was incubated. The thought was to prepare ...

Rainy days and Sundays

Sunday was a wet day. We had rain through the night and on into Sunday. We need the rain, I think. It hasn't rained in a while. I took this photo from the den out over the west forty. The garden path separates the west forty from the south forty. That's the way I think of it, anyway. Our property slopes down toward the north. When we bought the house eighteen years ago, looking at it with our San Francisco eyes, the yard seemed absolutely flat. Apple trees on the right. The big tree in the mid...

Tokyo whisky highs and lows

From January 8 to March 21, Tokyo was under its second state of emergency, which, just like the first one, pressed establishments serving alcohol into calling last orders at 7pm. It was a mostly observed request that resulted in less people going out drinking, and perhaps inevitably, more people just drinking early. Either way though, that freedom was missed, and the man below missed it so much that it rather ironically resulted in a temporarily enforced lockdown all his own making. A restric...

The Horton Hill Hike in Alberta’s Kananaskis Country

The Horton Hill hike, just an hour’s drive from Calgary in Kananaskis Country isn’t going to be the kind of hike most people are looking for. There is no trailhead, signage, or even a formal trail, though there is the odd piece of fluorescent flagging tape around. But it is surprisingly easy to find your way to the top, if you have any sense of direction and you just head up. Horton Hill is the forested hill located behind the Tim Horton Children’s Ranch. There used to be a trail from the ranc...

In most industries globally, whether it is B2B or B2C, the engagement between peers that beneficially impacts your product or service sales is a clear win-win scenario.

It Is Time For Hotel Marketers To Evolve Past Roi | By Stephanie Smith

If you are measuring your marketing success today the same way you did last year, you are not providing the value that your external stakeholders and ownership expect and that your internal business partners, like sales and revenue strategy, deserve. It is not enough anymore to measure how many guest rooms are booked per dollar spent on your paid marketing. Instead, focus your attention on two specific areas:
