What's the carbon footprint?

I see "Richard Branson completed a daring, barnstorming flight to edge of space Sunday, rocketing through the atmosphere in the spaceplane he’d been yearning to ride for nearly 20 years." That's the Washington Post dribbling enthusiasm like a sci-fi fanboy. I have no idea what "edge of space" means, but I suspect it should be "the edge of space," and it's sloppy editing. Anyway, WaPo is normally concerned about global warming and I don't know why the "daring barnstorming" of a billionaire gets...

New

There is a newly opened museum in Paris called the Hotel de la Marine. It once housed the extra furniture of Louis XIV but changed when the king moved to Versailles. The Germans occupied it when entrenched in Paris during WWII and then it was occupied by the Naval Ministry until now. It has a gorgeous interior, most of the art work is the building itself as well as furniture of former occupants but there is art of former French military men. I really enjoyed my visit there. The lovely entra...

Standing Ovation at Teatro Goldoni for Kae Tempest, Winner of Venice Biennale Theater Silver Lion

Kae Tempest at Teatro Goldini in Venice - Photo: Cat Bauer (Venice, Italy) Kae Tempest is a wordsmith wizard who spins thoughts into gold. Tempest's performance of The Book of Traps & Lessons at the Teatro Carlo Goldoni last night, July 10, was riveting and received a standing ovation -- which illustrates the power of the piece, since the Italian world premiere was a 45-minute spoken-word poem performed entirely in English. It was a COVID-distance full house, with every other seat occ...

"I believe all National Parks should be closed to visitors unless they have been invited. There should be a selection process..."

"... and it should be based on intelligence, respect for nature and intent. No selfie sticks, no babies, no kids younger than an age where they can grasp their surroundings and the concept of nature. Littering and damaging nature in any way should be met with a fine so steep that no one would dare. In NYC, our parks and landmarks are overrun by the ugliest, rudest tourists one can imagine. They have ruined life here and with a welcome mat fro[m] officials who only see dollars."That's a comment ...

Wildflowers

Wherever there is open space around us, the tall grasses and wildflowers thrive. This is a space between the vineyard road and the old storage cabin out there.
