Why Mr Devasahayam’s arguments against farm liberalisation in India are untenable

Mr Devasahayam is a brilliant officer who has unceasingly worked for the poor of India all his life. But he does have a socialist inclination, which prevents him from seeing the defects within the government, and the impossibility of socialist calculation. He recently pointed out that farmers are still agitating outside Delhi. He then shared […]

Tofino to Ucluelet by Bike Via a New Multi-Use Trail

One of the best things that has happened to the Tofino – Ucluelet corridor in years, at least in my opinion, is the building of a new 25 km multi-use trail called ʔapsčiik t̓ašii (pronounced: ups-cheek ta-shee and meaning going in the right direction on the trail) through Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The trail in the park is bookended by a multi-use trail in Tofino along with another multi-use trail in Ucluelet, providing an almost seamless 76-kilometre return bike ride. What is miss...

It's Halloween season Dear Ghouls and I've got a healthy, hearty Halloween recipe for you! This skull soup uses mushrooms to make the skulls and carrots to make mini pumpkins. It's super easy to make, full of vegetable goodness but is given heartiness from fast to cook red lentils. This ghoulish Halloween soup contains no actual humans or animals (it's vegan/plant based!).

A few months back I was in the Luxembourg Gardens and, as I always do, I wandered over to the Medici Fountain only to find it covered for some sort of renovation. I recently saw some photos showing that the work was finished so went back to see what was new. To tell the truth, it looked exactly the same. There was even green mold in the basin so I don’t know what they did. Still, it was nice to see. Autumn is underway. The flowers are still looking good. Here it is. Very drama...

New Jordan Brand store opens in Chicago

NBA Basketball Chicago is still mourning the Cubs’ epic collapse in the NLCS, but sports fans there can console themselves with this news: Nike is opening a huge new store Saturday that is virtually a shrine to one of Chicago’s favorite sons, Michael Jordan. Kobe Bryant says young Lakers are learning by watching him take all those shots

NBA Basketball Kobe Bryant is a leader, a competitor and a teacher. But his method of mentoring the Lakers so far this season has been about the youngsters watching Bryant take shots (and often miss).  “They’re one in the same,” Bryant told CBS Sports. “Because they learn by observing how I approach it. Joakim Noah loses his starting job; is his relevance on the Bulls next?

NBA When Steve Kerr took over the Warriors last season, he played a delicate game: minor tweaks to the defense, slow redirections with the offense, gentle shifts in minutes. He was replacing a coach, Mark Jackson, who was popular within the locker room and had found a winning for mula. His job, then, was to turn a playoff team into a champion. Kerr’s biggest early-season move? He sent his most experienced starter, an ace defender with an inconsi...

#SaudiArabia’s Oil Revenue Surges Ahead of OPEC+ Meeting: Chart - Bloomberg

Saudi Arabia’s Oil Revenue Surges Ahead of OPEC+ Meeting: Chart - Bloomberg Petrodollars are once again flowing in for Saudi Arabia. The kingdom is earning more money from oil exports than at any time since 2018, as the global economic recovery and OPEC+ production cuts boost prices. The producers’ cartel meets on Monday and has signaled it will continue with a gradual easing of those output curbs, though, with Brent crude near $80 a barrel, some traders and even the White House are puttin...
