Le Théorème de Narcisse- Jean Michel Othoniel

I’ve always admired the work of artist and sculptor Jean Michel Othoniel ever since I saw his Palais Royal metro kiosk in the early 2000s and have followed his work since. I have also had the pleasure of meeting him socially several times through a mutual friend.   Jean Michel Othoniel works mostly with Venetian blown glass globes in jewel tone colors and metallic finishes, creating impressive sculptures.   I still vividly remember the wonderful retrospective of his work at the Pompid...

Look What the Neighbors are Throwing Out

Okay, from now on I am going to post things that I see people are throwing out on the street. Hence, the title "Look what my Neighbors are throwing out." Spotted these on the street in Paris. Mid-century reproduction of the classic frog chairs, yes that is what they are called: "Fauteuil Crapaud" usually, the feet are not seen as fabric or passementerie hangs from the seat to the floor... but these are not the real deal. XIX Louis Philippe Style. Short legs, large back known for comfort. It a...

Amidst the Ongoing Staffing Shortages, the Right Hospitality Tech Can Help Stabilize Revenue and Elevate Guest Experience | By Robert Stevenson

COVID-19 is continuing to put a damper on travel, particularly in international markets where lockdowns and restrictions continue to exist. In areas where the vaccine has received broad distribution, like North America and parts of Europe, we have seen an uptick in travel in the early months of summer that was soon subdued by the growing number of Delta variant cases.

Thrillin’ and Chillin’ in October 2021

As I’ve been doing for the past three years (2018, 2019, 2020), I devoted October to a lot of horror watching. The main change this year is that I’ve decided to focus only on films, whereas in past years I’d also include TV series (that said, I still watched some horror-related shows, like Midnight Mass and Brand New Cherry Flavor). The final number is lower than previous years, and I blame video games for that, especially the 30+ hours I spent playing Far Cry 6. So below you’ll find the fu...

The silent homes of a long-abandoned Japanese village

Over the last year or so I’ve posted a few sets of photographs from long-abandoned Japanese mountain villages. There was this incredibly photogenic little hamlet, and then more recently, the time capsule-like quality of a settlement tucked away in the trees. The gathering of houses below, however, is a bit different. Or at least a bit different in the sense that I’ve visited it a couple times, and after recently finding a forgotten photo of a photo from when the village was still occupied, it s...

How to prepare your hospitality business for proof of vaccination laws | By Harry Kazakian

Cities and counties continue rolling out mandates requiring many businesses to demand customers show proof of vaccination before being allowed inside. These orders, which apply to businesses where people congregate, may be easier to enforce for nightclubs, stadiums or amusement parks, because they already have security operations regularly checking IDs and providing support.

Hospitality Associates and Magnuson Hotels alliance offers an alternative for UK independent hotels

Independent hotels in the UK have seen their options limited over the past decade.
