The current Air Force One aircraft are scheduled to be upgraded with the replacements to soon be delivered to Andrews Air Force Base for use by the president and his staff.

The route expansion spans from coast to coast with the first routes launching in March.

Atlas Air on Tuesday announced a four-aircraft order for the Boeing 747-8F, the largest mass-produced freighter from the American aircraft manufacturer.
Boeing said that these will be the last 747 ever built as the program comes to a close after a half-century.
Demand for cargo planes has skyrocketed during the pandemic and the 747 provided the one thing most freighters could not with its nose loading door.

Indonesian carrier Sriwijaya Air has a track record of incidents with the Boeing 737, mostly from pilot error and aircraft overshooting the runway on landing.
Saturday's incident is the airline's fifth incident with the Boeing 737 since 2008 and the only one in which passengers lost their lives.
The Boeing 737, however, has been a proven safe aircraft.

AirlineRatings just unveiled its list of the world's safest airlines for 2021, according to the site's experts, narrowing the top 20 from a list of 385.
The US had a great showing with six of the 11 major American carriers making the top 20 cut while Asia performed poorly.
Carriers in Oceania and the Middle East also dominated the highest spots, continuing the trend from last year.

American Airlines grew its Boeing 737 Max route network on Tuesday to include Washington, DC and Orlando, Florida, as well as New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Emirates is giving its new Airbus A380s an interior upgrade with each cabin receiving an enhancement.
Economy class will receive "ergonomically designed" seats with leather headrests and tray tables with wood finishes.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for flights departing and arriving into Dallas while a facility is being cleaned after two workers tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
Flights are also temporarily barred from landing or taking off from any airport under the airspace, which extends across Northern Texas from parts of New Mexico to parts of Louisiana and Arkansas.

Delta Air Lines reported canceling 325 flights in the days leading up to Christmas, which was the busiest travel season of the pandemic.
A perfect storm of bad weather and a lack of pilots forced Delta to cancel the flights over a three-day period starting December 23.
Thanksgiving similarly saw over 600 flight cancellations at the airline, revealing a trend of poor performance during the holidays.

Alaska Airlines and Boeing signed an agreement in principle for a total of 68 of the 737 Max aircraft with an option for 52 more.
Deliveries will take place over the next four years as Alaska uses the jets to replace its Airbus A320 family fleet.

Aerion has broken ground on a new campus in Melbourne, Florida that will house the production facilities for its AS2 supersonic business jet.
The $300 million campus will be known as Aerion Park and span 110.6 acres at Melbourne International Airport on Florida's Space Coast.

Brazil's Gol Linhas Aéreas performed the first scheduled Boeing 737 Max flight with passengers since March 2019 on Wednesday.
Flight 4104 departed from Sao Paulo en route to Porto Alegre and arrived without issue after climbing as high as 38,000 feet.
Gol has orders for 95 Boeing 737 Max jets and is proving to be the most eager of the world's airlines to get the fleet flying again.

The Airbus A330-800neo entered service with Kuwait Airways in November after being delivered in October as Airbus' newest passenger jet.
It's the smaller variant of the A330neo family but still boasts an impressive range of 8,150 nautical miles and greater efficiency thanks to new Rolls-Royce engines.
With only three airlines publicly placing orders for the aircraft, however, it's likely to be a flop.

Ramp workers and flight attendants are among the most impacted workgroup with over 4,000 WARN notices issued between them.
