Looks like we are in for a slightly below-average stretch in the weather for the foreseeable future. As of today, the average high temp should be 54℉. We are still more than a month away from Opener, which isn't until May 15th this year. I am catching fish and am OK with struggling for a couple of weeks. I didn't start really getting fish last year until the 27th, though I did have a couple of double-digit days previous to that on April 19th (14 fish) and April 21st (11 fish). I hope to have my Garmin Side-Imager in the water by this upcoming weekend. That could possibly be a gamechanger for me in locating schools of crappie. I should probably start looking at Youtube videos to get me started on the learning curve. Better fishing lies ahead. I am confident of that.

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

Valid 072212Z - 080015Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...60 percent

SUMMARY...A threat for isolated severe thunderstorms capable of
producing mainly damaging winds and perhaps a few tornadoes may
develop eastward this evening. Watch issuance is possible for parts
of this area in the next couple of hours.

DISCUSSION...A rash of low-level warm advection driven convection
has developed this afternoon across central/eastern AR and northern
LA. With the exception of northwestern LA, recent radar trends
suggest much of this activity is struggling to substantially
intensify as it moves east-northeastward. Surface dewpoints in
western TN and vicinity drop quickly into the low/mid 50s, with
gradually decreasing instability with eastward extent. Furthermore,
the VWP from KNQA shows limited veering in the boundary layer, which
may tend to limit potential for low-level rotation. Farther south
into northern/central/western MS and northeastern/central LA,
greater moisture is present and stronger diurnal heating has
occurred. Latest mesoanalysis estimates suggest up to 1000-1500 J/kg
of MLCAPE exists across this region, and sufficient deep-layer shear
should support organized updrafts. If storms can congeal into a
better defined line ahead of the surface cold front, then the
damaging wind threat would increase this evening. A few tornadoes
also appear possible if storms can remain semi-discrete. This
tornado potential may be slightly greater across
northeastern/central LA into MS. Overall, the potential for a more
substantial severe threat developing this evening remains unclear
owing to the poorly organized convection across AR at the moment.
Trends will continue to be monitored, and a watch may eventually be
needed for parts of this region.

Mesoscale Discussion 0327
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0504 PM CDT Wed Apr 07 2021

Areas affected...Northeastern Missouri...Western
Illinois...southeastern Iowa.

Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

Valid 072204Z - 080000Z

Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...Potential for damaging wind gusts will likely decrease as
a line of convection moves north and east this afternoon evening. A
narrow area in northeast Missouri into western Illinois appears to
have the most favorable environment for stronger gusts. A downstream
watch is not anticipated this evening.

DISCUSSION...Strong to occasionally severe storms along a line west
of St. Louis will continue to progress to the northeast into the
evening. The most intense portion of this line remains to the
northwest of the St. Louis metro area and is being sustain by strong
mid-level ascent from the upper low in Kansas. Current surface
observations show low to mid 70s F temperatures just ahead of the
line within the Mississippi Valley. There, some cloud cover has kept
dewpoints from mixing out with a few low 60s F being observed. The
Quincy, IL vicinity appears to have the most favorable environment
ahead of the line coupled with the upper-level support. Farther
east, greater sunshine has allowed higher temperatures, but
dewpoints have mixed into the mid/upper 50s F. While a few isolated
damaging wind gusts are possible, particularly in northeast Missouri
into adjacent western Illinois, the over all trend in convective
intensity is expected to decrease the farther north and east the
line moves. An additional downstream watch is not anticipated.

  Northeast Kansas

* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 905 PM
  until 200 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...Earlier supercells in central Kansas have evolved into
more of a linear configuration, which suggests more of a damaging
wind threat into the overnight hours as the storms spread eastward.
The stronger storms will also continue to pose a threat for
occasional large hail.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65
statute miles east and west of a line from 45 miles north of
Manhattan KS to 35 miles west southwest of Emporia KS. For a
complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline
update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU3).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

Mesoscale Discussion 0319
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1122 PM CDT Tue Apr 06 2021

Areas affected...Central Kansas

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 73...

Valid 070422Z - 070615Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 73
continues.

SUMMARY...Strong/severe thunderstorms continue across central
Kansas.

DISCUSSION...Diffluent high-level flow ahead of approaching upper
trough remains favorable for venting convection aloft. Earlier
prefrontal convection has matured into an MCS that is propagating
across central KS. Leading edge of this complex is bowing east in
excess of 30kt, with a trailing flank that becomes more discrete
northwest of Medicine Lodge in Pratt/Barber County. Over the last
hour or so, stronger hail cores have weakened, though some large
hail threat remains with the southern-most convection. With outflow
now sagging up to 30 miles south of the MCS, the primary risk for
severe appears to be shifting to the southern portions of ww73.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 72
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
445 PM CDT Tue Apr 6 2021

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Central Kansas
  South central Nebraska

* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 445 PM until
  1100 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
    inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm initiation appears imminent just to the east
of Dodge City, and near the surface low in south central Nebraska.
The storm environment favors a mix of multicell clusters to the
north with an accompanying large hail and damaging wind threat, and
supercells farther south toward central and south central Kansas.
In addition to the hail/wind threat, there will be some potential
for a tornado or two with the southernmost supercells in a cluster
across Kansas this evening.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles northwest of
Grand Island NE to 95 miles south of Russell KS. For a complete
depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline update
(WOUS64 KWNS WOU2).
