Mahwah-based Ascena Retail Group reports 4 pct drop in holiday sales

Mahwah-based specialty retailer Ascena Retail Group, which owns and operates brands such as women's specialty clothing companies Lane Bryant and Dressbarn, said Tuesday that holiday sales dropped 4 percent. Ascena President and Chief Executive Officer David Jaffe said the holiday period - from Nov. 21 to Jan. 3 - was affected by "soft traffic" and "unseasonably warm weather."

Ascena Retail (ASNA) Stock Rallying on Upbeat Analysts' Actions Following Ann Acquisition

"With the addition of the Ann Taylor and LOFT brands, Ascena will become one of North America's largest and most diversified specialty apparel retailers, with a tremendous set of opportunities to continue to expand its leadership position in the women's apparel market," Ascena CEO David Jaffe said in a statement yesterday.
