‘The Simpsons’ Showrunner Al Jean on Upcoming Guest Stars and the Show’s ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ Parody [Interview]

It’s time for our twice annual interview with Al Jean, showrunner on  The Simpsons . Jean is such a reliable attendee to Fox’s Television Critics Association that I now think of questions every week while I watch the show and unleash them when we have a chance to talk. This batch of questions covers The Simpsons ’ inclusion on Disney+, the new Disney ownership, Aquaman Jason Momoa’s voice cameo, and recent episodes, like the return of Artie Ziff and “Thanksgiving of Horror.” The Sim...

‘The Batman’ May Draw Inspiration From ‘Batman: Year One’ and ‘The Long Halloween’, Could Introduce the Flying Graysons [Updated]

Update: Set photos have been posted online that appear to depict jack-o-lanterns on the set of The Batman, which lends credence to the long-held speculation that Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s beloved comic graphic novel Batman: The Long Halloween may serve as an inspiration for Reeves’ movie. We won’t link to those photos, but they’re out there if you want to track them down. In any case, the apparent Halloween setting may mark the first time a live-action Batman movie has taken place during that ho...

‘The Batman’ May Draw Inspiration from ‘Batman: Year One,’ Could Introduce the Flying Graysons

Since Robert Pattinson stepped into the cape and cowl, it was clear that Matt Reeves‘ The Batman would follow a younger Caped Crusader. But just how early? We still know very few details about the plot of The Batman, but previous reports suggested that the film would show the early days of Batman’s career, barring the origin story that we’ve already seen dozens of times before. Now a new tweet from Reeves hints that The Batman will draw inspiration from one of the most iconic depictions of Batm...

Ben Affleck Opens Up About Struggles With Alcoholism, Why He Left ‘The Batman’

In 2016, it seemed like the future was bright for Warner Bros.’ The Batman. Ben Affleck, who had just made his debut as an older and wearier Caped Crusader in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was set to direct the Batman solo flick from a script he was co-writing with longtime DC Comics stalwart Geoff Johns. But a year later, Affleck would step down from the director’s chair. Two years after that, Affleck left The Batman altogether. At the time, Affleck was dealing with publicly-docum...

Birds Of Prey Review – Harley Quinn’s Grand Day Out

Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) gets every opportunity to showcase a variety of trademarks in Birds of Prey, but the shiny, full-throttle feature rarely shows us a character fans will actually recognize. In similar fashion to several other superhero films which have recently lost their way, if there is a character who can, for any reason, be described as “crazy,” then that will become the beginning and end of said character. This is also brought to us here as Ewan McGregor‘s Black Mask never manage...

Batman Gun Symbol Puts Childish Blame on Objects Instead of Perpetrators

Like every other idea the gun-grabbers offer, blaming a gun and remolding it into a bat shape is purely symbolic.
