True O’Rourke-mentum?

I don’t know how many of you saw it. But over the weekend Beto O’Rourke got asked about his first day fundraising haul and said something to effect that he declined to give exact numbers. That certainly made it sound like he’d come up significantly short. Hard to see how this wasn’t a clever way to lower expectations ahead of today’s eye-popping announcement. He raised more than any other Democratic presidential candidate on their first day, which is certainly impressive. O’Rourke was ahead Sa...

In response to this post of mine on Beto O’Rourke from March 14th, Marc Hetherington wrote this response. Hetherington and Jonathan Weiler are the authors of this ground-breaking study, Authoritarianism and Polarization in American Politics. You might not be thinking about Beto’s potential base of support the right way. Those of us who follow politics closely always tend to think about the world in terms of ideology. But decades of research in political science suggests that most Americans do...

"Beto O'Rourke raised massive $6.1 million his first day in the 2020 race..."

According to his campaign, CNN reports. That tops the $5.9 million one-day total Sen. Bernie Sanders announced after he launched his campaign. The closest other 2020 Democratic candidate to publicize their first-day fundraising total was California Sen. Kamala Harris at $1.5 million....[O'Rourke's] refusal to release first-day fundraising totals over the weekend had raised doubts that O'Rourke had met fundraising expectations around his campaign launch. He remained coy about his fundraising for d...

Beto O'Rourke's hacker name was "Psychedelic Warlord," so that must mean he's done hallucinogenic drugs — right? — and is that something that's okay in a presidential candidate?

Scott Adams addresses the question whether Beto has done hallucinogens:Scott's first pass at the question is another question: "Have you seen Beto?" He giggles while waiting for the question to soak in. He says anyone who's taken hallucinogens (which Scott has) will have an "easier time" with the question.Eventually he gives his answer: He'd place a "large bet" on "yes."He's quick to add that it's not a criticism. "In fact, I might even prefer it." This preference interweaves with his reason for...

Beto O’Rourke Says We’re All In This Together

Beto O’Rourke is a media darling. Therefore, he stands a decent chance of advancing to the Democratic nomination. Running for President today is a made-for-TV, multi-year entertainment event. Beto O’Rourke is 46. Bernie Sanders is 77. Does Age Matter Anymore for Democrats?

Democrats have won the presidency with younger nominees like Obama, Clinton and Kennedy. But age may be relative in 2020, with many younger voters preferring the septuagenarian Mr. Sanders.

Weirdo O’Rourke

Friends of the young Bill Clinton and Barack Obama spoke of the special glow of promise they had about them, even back in their early twenties. Angels sat on their shoulders. History gave them a wink and said, “Hey, good lookin’, I’ll be back to pick you up later.”Robert O’Rourke? Not so much. He was just a weirdo. That isn’t my word, it’s how his friends saw him. “You’re supposed to make friends with future secretaries of state, not weirdo musicians,” one O’Rourke pal, Adam Mortimer, told the N...

Beto O'Rourke Stupid Comment of the Day

Now that the Left's beloved Beto has decided to run for president, there's a need to start a thread similar to Ocasio-Cortez Stupid Comment of the Day. Let's start off with this: Beto O'Rourke compares people fighting climate change to 'those who were on the beaches in Normandy' These are the people considered to the Rock Stars of the Progressive Left and the geniuses that will guide our future. Last night on Fox Laura Ingram did a montage of all the stupid, incomprehensible things ...
