Rangers Are This Season’s Unluckiest Team

The New York Rangers have had a season like no other in the team’s recent history. As a club that used to be a perennial Stanley Cup contender, the Rangers are used to getting good breaks and lucky rewards. That is seemingly the nature of the playoffs. One bounce here and one tip there, the team that takes advantage of the lucky breaks usually wins. But now the Rangers are experiencing the other side, the unlucky one. They’re a team that puts forth a plentiful amount of effort night in and night...

Rangers’ Inconsistency Wearing Thin on Quinn

When head coach David Quinn sleeps these days, is it possible that he dreams of a hockey team that consists of Brendan Lemieux at every position other than goaltender? If such a crazy scenario ever filled the head of the New York Rangers coach at night, it would be understandable. And it seems likely that such a theoretical dream would have occurred in the last couple of weeks. As seamlessly as Quinn has adjusted to the NHL game following a career in the college ranks, there are undoubtedly elem...

Jets to Jokerit: Did Vesalainen Make the Right Choice?

The Winnipeg Jets are getting revved up and ready to go for what’s hopefully a lengthy playoff run this spring and the Manitoba Moose are in a dogfight for a playoff spot of their own with 17 games to go, but Kristian Vesalainen might not play another professional hockey game until October. This begs the question: was his choice to return to Europe the right one, or did it lead to a wasted season? Rangers’ Deadline Decisions – How Did Gorton Do?

The NHL trade deadline is now history. This past weekend leading up to the deadline consisted of endless speculation and attempts to predict the various different outcomes that would ensue. New York Rangers Finally Add Some Grit

So yes, Kevin Hayes has actually been traded by the New York Rangers, a move that has upset a portion of the fanbase to a surprisingly large degree. That topic will likely invoke strong emotional reactions for at least the rest of the season. And the return for the big center might turn out to be overlooked as a result by that segment of the faithful who didn’t want to see Hayes dealt under any circumstances, but part of it should give Rangers fans a clear indication of where the building ...

Trade: Rangers' sell-off continues as Kevin Hayes heads to Jets

Kevin Hayes wanted to stay, but the state of the New York Rangers prevented that from being a reality as the trade deadline approached. After sitting out the Rangers' two games over the weekend, Hayes is now on the move to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a lottery-protected 2019 first-round pick (becomes a 2020 first if in the top three), a conditional 2022 pick (fourth-rounder if Winnipeg wins the Stanley Cup) and forward Brendan Lemieux. Pettersson Is the Canucks’ Best Rookie Ever

When the Vancouver Canucks picked fifth in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, the team’s surprise selection was a skinny Swedish kid named Elias Pettersson. And, what an amazing selection it was. Pettersson, almost personally, has changed the fortunes and the future of the Canucks. He gave fans a reason to attend games, and game after game he dazzles with his abilities to elude defenders, find open teammates, and score himself. Saturday’s game against the division-leading Calgary Flames was no exce...

Jets’ Roslovic Making the Most of More Minutes

Prior to January, Jack Roslovic spent the majority of his time this season on the Winnipeg Jets’ bottom-six, simply as result of the team’s riches up front. Logging less than 10 minutes per game, he had limited opportunities to show off his adept passing, elite vision and wicked shot. About a month ago, though, his top-six shot finally arrived in the wake of Nikolaj Ehlers’ injury. So far, he’s made good on his increased role and the additional minutes he’s received to strut his offensive ...
