Bengals studied a lot of offenses to find what’s comfortable for Joe Burrow

Word from the Bengals has been uniformly positive about quarterback Joe Burrow's participation in the offseason program, but that work was done remotely and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan identified one issue the team will have to deal with once they are on the field. Callahan said that the offense has been almost entirely installed, but [more]

Bill Callahan – “Pigeons”

"Hello, I'm Johnny Cash." These are the first words out of Bill Callahan's mouth on Gold Record, his newly announced follow-up to last year's Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest. We learned of this album's existence last week, which was surprising because last time Callahan took six years between albums, and now he's turned … More »

American Handgunner’s 2020 Special Edition of DIY Guns – Gunsmith Projects & Pro Tips

American Handgunner’s 2020 Special Edition of DIY Guns USA – -( “A man’s got to know his limitations,” Executive Editor Tom McHale recalls from Detective “Dirty Harry” Callahan of “Magnum Force.” “It’s good advice,” he acknowledges, “because sometimes you gain the most valuable experience by learning what not to do.” Do-it-yourself gunsmithing can get a bad rap — not many people endeavor to make adjustments to the trigger or safety of a fine 1911 without the necessary skill or ...

Petitions of the week

This week we highlight petitions pending before the Supreme Court that involve, among other things, whether the due process clause requires that a child receive an individualized hearing before being placed in criminal court to be tried as an adult, whether qualified immunity is an affirmative defense that state actors must assert or a shield that federal appellate courts may raise on their own initiative, and whether a district court’s discretion to vary from the U.S. Sentencing Commission’s se...

Whicker: Jockey Mike Smith makes some noise at quiet Santa Anita

Arrogate, 7, died on Tuesday, which was too early. He was born too early, too. This 2020 Triple Crown schedule would be Arrogate’s cup of oats. The Belmont Stakes on June 20, the Kentucky Derby on Labor Day weekend and the Preakness in October…that would have dovetailed with the thunder that Arrogate produced in late 2016 and early 2017. “I wish I had the words to describe what it felt like when he got rolling,” said Mike Smith, Arrogate’s pilot in those days, fighting the same empty feeling tha...

Maple Leafs’ Draft Picks That Got Away

The Toronto Maple Leafs team of the early 2000s was one of the most beloved by Leafs Nation. With names like Mats Sundin, Gary Roberts, Darcy Tucker, Bryan McCabe, Alexander Mogilny and many more, the roster resonated with fans. Once known as the Beasts of the East, they had the best chance to make the playoffs and win the Stanley Cup. After the 2004-05 lockout, things got ugly for the Maple Leafs, and they dealt with constant disappointment. Before the 2016-17 season, they had missed the pla...

Here's where Facebook's first 20 employees are now (FB)

Facebook launched in February 2004, and it's come a long way in the last 16 years.  Notably, almost all of the company's first 20 employees have since left the company. Austin Rocks: The LBJ Library and Museum

In a Fast-Paced Digital World, B2B Marketers Can Benefit from Slowing Down

We are living in the age of speed: faster connections, faster answers, faster service. People expect many things to happen instantly, in real-time, and technological advancements are increasingly making it possible. As such, it might seem counter-intuitive to suggest that we as B2B marketers are wise to slow our roll. Sometimes we tend to go through the motions too quickly, or in the wrong order, and it can hurt our results. In fact, it can prevent us from even accurately evaluating our re...

Report: Browns are expected to hire Bill Callahan

It looks like the Browns will have a top assistant with head coaching experience working under Kevin Stefanski in his first year as the boss in Cleveland. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Bill Callahan is expected to take a job on the Browns staff as the offensive line coach. Callahan has done that job for the Jets, Cowboys and Washington over the last 12 years and has also held offensive coordinator and assistant head coach titles over that span.

Rangers’ Top 5 Moments Against Rivals of the Past Decade

It is difficult to determine exactly what causes teams to become rivals. In this list, I consider all of the teams in the same division as the New York Rangers before the NHL made changes to the divisions in 2013-14 rivals. These teams included the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils, and New York Islanders. I also included the Washington Capitals as they played the Rangers five times in the playoffs from the 2008-09 season to the 2014-15 season. The teams are now in the ...

They don't know at the moment whether he'll show up for the Senior Bowl next week (in any capacity), but they've already done the prep work on him, with offensive coordinator Brian Callahan saying he's already watched every snap of LSU's offense. Callahan described the Heisman winner as being “as advertised. He's got natural pocket feel.

Washington hires head coach Rivera to lead franchise out of slump: report

The Washington Redskins hired Ron Rivera as their new head coach, the NFL Network reported on Tuesday, replacing interim leader Bill Callahan, who took over after Jay Gruden was cut loose in October. Rivera previously presided over the NFL's Carolina Panthers, leading the team to a franchise-best 15-win and one-loss record in the 2015 season before losing in the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos. Tech giants like Google and Amazon are beefing up their healthcare strategies. Here's how 7 tech titans are tackling the $3.6 trillion industry.

Big tech giants have their eyes on the $3.6 trillion US healthcare industry.  As healthcare costs keep rising for Americans, tech companies are betting they can have a part in fixing the broken pieces of the industry.  Already, lawmakers and the public are raising concerns about tech giants' role in healthcare. In November, news that Google had been working with a large health system and had access to millions of patients' data brought into question whether consumers are comfortable putting he...

Wishbone Ash - 50 Years & Still Rocking

Wishbone Ash is one of those epic '70s bands that burned brightly for a few years, releasing top 10 albums, playing stadiums worldwide and then seemingly vanished. If you weren't listening to prog rock in '72 or maybe '74 you might never have heard of them. They never had a charting single in the US, no "Behind the Music" VH1 special, nothing. That makes it all the more surprising that 50 years later they are still recording and touring in the US and Europe. Although Argus, thei...
