Tristan Thompson says Wizards' trash talking sparked Cavaliers' comeback win

You can point to the Wizards' cold shooting in the second half, or a lack of production from anyone not named Bradley Beal or Rui Hachimura, but they were playing a bad Cavs team who committed 21 turnovers. According to Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson, Washington's trash talk during the game sparked Cleveland's comeback. "Somebody out there ignited our defense to take it up a little notch," Thompson said according to Fred Katz.

Report: Trail Blazers offered to trade expiring contracts to Cavaliers for Kevin Love

Kevin Love's trade value has proven divisive inside and outside Cleveland. The Cavaliers reportedly wanted a first-round pick for the talented forward. The Trail Blazers – long-rumored as a Love suitor – apparently tried to find common ground with Hassan Whiteside's and Kent Bazemore's expiring contracts.

Blue Jackets Have Catastrophic Problem at Worst Possible Time

The Columbus Blue Jackets enjoyed a much better start against the Phialdephia Flyers on Thursday night. They scored 44 seconds into the game. They made it 2-0 not long after that on an insane between the legs goal by captain Nick Foligno. Not a bad way to celebrate your 900th NHL game. However, the 2-0 lead didn’t last for long. Just seconds later, Travis Konecny deflects a shot past Elvis Merzlikins to make it 2-1. It was now time to strap in and play their most important game of t...

Weekly Roundup, Friday 21 February 2020

By all accounts, the Airbus A220 is a lovely plane, well liked by airlines and passengers alike. How ironic that this great airplane almost completely destroyed its developer – Bombardier. See story below. Good morningThe Covid-19 virus (it now has a name) has been enormously on my mind the last several weeks, and for very direct and personally impactful reasons.  To help clarify my thinking, I wrote a detailed and careful analysis of the present situation and the possible unfolding future, an...

How a Lakers coaching staff of strangers blended to lead the West’s top team

CHICAGO — The Lakers might not be where they are today if not for a very crucial task that helps keep them humming. It’s an area that falls under the expertise of assistant coach Mike Penberthy, who once won a title with the Shaq-and-Kobe-era Lakers. When coaching staff meetings invariably bog down with the minutiae of game planning, he’s often the one who makes the decision to shake things up. “I’ll be like, ‘You know what, I think we need some donuts today,’” he said. “I’ll grab one of the you...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Facebook Videos of Her Trip to Standing Rock Reveal Her Political Awakening

Almost everyone who came to Standing Rock repeated the same legend. Someone, maybe Crazy Horse, had made a prophecy a long time ago—probably in the late 1870s—about the looming destruction of the planet. The “who” and “when” parts of the story were always fuzzy, but the prophecy was always the same: the “black snake” of darkness and discord was going to infect the land, seeping into the fires and air and water, spreading conflict and violence, and threatening the reciprocal relationship bet...

‘Mom, Be Brave’: Daughter Writes Heartfelt Message In Snow To Mother Battling Cancer

CLEVELAND (CBS Local) — A woman who is battling cancer while far away from home received a special message of hope from her daughter this week. Michele Schambach, 65, arrived at Ohio’s Cleveland Clinic from Guatemala on Wednesday for follow-up care of an aggressive brain tumor. Her daughter, Marie Schambach, a physician who also lives in Guatemala, spotted snow outside the clinic’s main campus. Report: Andre Drummond said he would leave Cavaliers if John Beilein returned

The John Beilein era with the Cleveland Cavaliers won't be remembered fondly. Beilein lasted just 54 games with the team before stepping down Tuesday. Things were so bad in Cleveland that Drummond was reportedly willing to waive his $28.7 million option if Beilein returned next year, according to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic.

Rumor: The Cavaliers might try to flip Andre Drummond in trade at draft, or in July

When J.B. Bickerstaff takes over as the new coach in Cleveland today, he will inherit a big, slow frontcourt of Kevin Love and Andre Drummond that will make a combined $60 million next season. Instead, Cleveland surprised the league when it added Drummond at the trade deadline. Now comes a rumor from Greg Swartz at Bleacher Report where an anonymous former GM says he thinks once Drummond picks up the $28.8 million option on his contract — something expected around the league — the Cavs will try ...

“It’s a major award!”

I hate tooting my own horn. It usually comes off as self-serving and tasteless. But, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Today is one of those days. I’m being honored by the Cleveland-area chapter of the National Association of Social Workers as its Public Citizen of the Year.  Full disclosure. When I received the first email about this I thought it was some kind of scam. Why is a management-side employment lawyer receiving such an honor?  Here’s why—  Jon Hyman's Ohio Employer'...

Report: Cavaliers players played songs like ‘Thuggish Ruggish Bone’ around John Beilein

While coaching the Cavaliers, John Beilein called his players “thugs.” He said it was a simple case of mispronouncing the word “slugs” while speaking too quickly. Of the six Cleveland players who publicly addressed the issue the following day, only Tristan Thompson didn't offer clear support of his coach. The Cavs kept Beilein.
