Stack the Odds in Your Favor (with Rich Bernstein), Dow Jones new high, measuring happiness (with Tony Isola)

Trading the S&P 500 each day gives you only a 54% chance of making money. That’s a 46% chance of losing. Basically a coin flip. Extending this time frame from holding stocks one day to holding them for a full year reduced your chances of losing by 15 percentage points (46% down to 31%). And holding stocks over a ten year period reduces your odds of losing money to only 10% historically. That’s a 90% chance...The post Stack the Odds in Your Favor (with Rich Bernstein), Dow Jones new high, measuri...

The best defense is a good offense…lately

Hypothetical scenario – you want to play all offense with your stock portfolio, i.e. own the hottest stocks with the most potential upside, but use the rest of your portfolio to play the strongest defense possible. Another way to phrase this would be a barbell portfolio on steroids. It would have worked over the last five years. It may not work in every market environment. But just for fun, I asked the boys to run t...The post The best defense is a good offense…lately appeared first on The Refor...

The Plumbing

I’m told internally that, at the present moment, we have 24 new client onboards taking place. That’s a lot, we’re just 34 people. Wall Street thanks you for your revolution

I’m on record having said I am thrilled to see small investors having made some big money on GameStop and AMC and the rest of the heavily-shorted stocks they’ve ridden to glory this year.
